Default f@@@in fault with esco still...................now fine

yous might remember i posted up this fault my mates esco cos has got

wel its still not gone...so basically car has had this fault on and off for a while now(1=2 years)

the car when revved up to 4k it backfires like fuck, looses boost and cuts out.at 1 bar of boost

this was running stage 3+for running in new engine

tonight we put the greys in +msd closed loop chip and the boost must be set diffrent on this map as it doesnt come in as quick and now it revs to 5500 on only 10psi and does the same thing

we are at our wits ends with the thing

its been in a garage 3 times for this and still the same

all sensors, ecu changed except knock sensor and tps

there is a great spark, plenty fuel getting through, and all engine wiring inspected and part rewired

nightmare

the symptoms you describe dont totally say exhaust to me,but judging on what has already been done its got to be worth a go before wasting more time and cash,i have seen exhausts cause this kind of fault, even intermittently, strangely

my 3 door had a similiar issue.

as soon as the L8 ecu was fitted it was sorted.

Could you have a faulty ECU?

presuming that mechanically the car is sound ( which i'm sure it is ) then it definitely sounds electrical IMO...

I know exactly what the problem is. I have had it with numerous cars in my time. It's all down to this at the front

simple fix, but a big step to do.

something odd must be going on and dare i say it, it could be the ECU program. try re-programming it.

wiring to the map sensor

also common fault is the the multi plug still there in engine bay

also check main voltage to the ecu when the car is running and driving (do this by putting a volt meter to the correct pin-out on the ecu connector)

Fuel pump / gauze on the pickup or the fuel pressure reg....

I have had several that seem like an electrical fault and it turned out to be either

Fuel Pump Voltage/Wiring
Fuel Pressure Reg Diaphram usually.
Pick up on the fuel pump, most have some sort of gauze/strainer on the pickup which if partially blocked can give similar probs as you describe....

If you have exhausted all the other sensor/electrical avenues....

Missfiring and losing boost actually suggest its losing fuel dramatically. It may well be that you have a fuel supply problem. Has anybody checked teh AFR whilst this problem is occuring?

Has anyone watched teh ECU datastream whilst this is occuring?

Realy did think about it while the engine is out but , never had a problem with any of the wiring on my car and its only done 50K.Dont reay want to keep adding to ava's work list either as my spec has changed a few times since its been in.

neil he bought it off harvey gibbs i think,it was a standard one out a concours car £big note

it wasent as easy as it should of been i dont think due to some of the old loom being hard wired by someone else and things didint match up

but hes soldered and heat shrinked all of it etc and it seems to be fine
