extreme rollers....updated with pics

Testing the future
did your car only have the people in the boot for the power measurement and not the coast down losses measurement?
i expect that the scooby didn't have anybody sitting on it for it's power run?

and to be honest this isnt what i want,as ive spoke to alan at ava about this and he set my car up the way we thought was best
but as ive been told by both ava and extreme,im at the level where i need a mappable managment to get the best out of it
or i was thinking of getting my car down to msd for a proper mapping session,as im assuming stu can only do his best in writing a chip to what a customer tells him over phone,i might not have been 100% accurate
saying this im fairly sure my greys must be close to maxing out????
and although ive tested my fuel pump and there is 12-14v at it,when the cars at full pelt,id be more confident hard wiring it myself

Testing the future
that's what i'm hinting at
as the losses on the scooby were measured with the same friction on the rollers through the tyres as during the power run, the calculated flywheel figure is more likely to be reasonably close to being accurate

what's wrong with them rob?
afaik, the straps should only be there as a restraint in case something goes wrong and the car tries to climb out of the rollers. they should not be used to pull the rear of the car down into the rollers, as in theory this will give increased friction between tyre and roller. on a sierra though, due to the shit rear suspension, the more the rear suspension is compressed, the less contact patch of the tyre will be on the rollers

It's pointless comparing different rolling roads.... .
However, I will say that the AVA rollers are the only ones that I have ever seen that can provide the same load as the road, so that you get a boost curve identical to what you would see on the road.
If you don't actually get full boost until 4750rpm on the road, that must be HORRIBLE to drive .
I also see you get the usual T4 boost creep above 7000rpm, which would indicate to me that you either need the enlarged wastegate penny (if you don't have it), or for the wastegate to be ported, so that it can bleed off more air to maintain the boost at the required level. This is probably why it is running lean at high rpm... .

Mike i think Alan has modded Colins wastegate already.
Ava is one of the only places that i have seen that loads the car up in stages and holds the revs to get a full load run.
Mike you going to be putting the escort on the rollers? What power did your Saf make at ava?

Well despite the wastegate mods, you can CLEARLY see that the boost is still creeping at high rpm, which would explain the problem with the fuelling leaning off... .
"only" 395
With 3.36 gearing, horrendous ACTs (well into the 50's) as it was the only day in Scotland's weather history that ambient temps hit 25°C and the water injection pumping in water . Unfortunately their cooling system on that day had not yet been fully installed, so was running at half power .
However, at 1.2 bar with PERFECT ACTs (due to the cooling being adequate at this boost level), it made 320bhp @ the wheels, which goes to show how good it might have been with adequate cooling - just ask Alan what he thinks it might have made with ACTs in the low 40s.... .

I think with a turbo as big as a t4 you realy need to be live mapped and have good boost control. I know Alan has a few tricks to help it but can only do so much with an off the shelf chip.
320 atw with 1.2 bar im hoping for a little more than that at 2 bar but im only on a T38.

AVA rollers tend to pload your car up a wee bit more than you can really ever see on the road.
Only place mine has seen similar loads is on the runway flat out in 5th.
Colin there is 30 bhp in your car if you stop messing about with chips and live maps

mike i dont know if its got the big penny or not, alan defo ported the wastegate a while back, and seemed to have cured it,to a certain degree
as for boost im going to check my other graphs im sure the cams been set up seen full boosdt before this
but no its not horrible to drive, just knock it back into first gear..lol
+i am still running standard head,no porting etc
think i might get it set up again and see whats going on

I was talking to Alan the other week about exhaust back pressure and the figures he was on about were interesting. There doing an exhaust for a car running around 360 atw on a t38 so will be good to see just how much a change it makes. I might go for one later in the year depending on pressure tests and cash flow, wonder what sort of a system Tom could come up with for an escort.

I made 410 ATW without the exhaust col
Even changing to a magnex would help your car as your car always blows the gas analyser out the exhaust does it not?
that never happened on my magnex.
Just a thought

I went to rolling road im plymouth with a mate of mine in a STAGE 3 ESCOS, he went on first and made 338bhp, i thought that was spot on, just about right..
i went on in my 4x4 saff with 55lb injectors and a T34.48 and made......
459bhp
WTF
but at least i did win most power of the day
