Hi Guys,

the grip on the rollers and the traction bar hold a car into the rollers properly - the more power it makes the more grip it makes

the higher tyre pressures stop the tyres distorting and the sidewall from buckling under higher power (a bit like you see on a dragster as it leaves the line)

the biggest power we have run in the UK was 1,875 atw - a twin turbo corvette

here are some vids for you to see some of the big power stuff

How about the DD hub dyno's? PJ uses one. Surely these will allow the truest power figure and best mapping because there is no wheelspin.

Still the question stands - why are more tuners not using hub dynos so there can be no tyre slip situations?

Bloody expensive washing machines..... lol

Dont have any issues with wheel spin personally, so cant comment really....

Not very quick and easy to get cars on/off at a guess.....

Third Gear !!!

So... perhaps that is why my 500 never made decent power at G-Force at the Beds RR Day all those years ago.

Those fellas ran the cars in 4th......

Obviously hadnt read the manual....

There were a few niggly things with the way they ran Neil, cars weren't loaded up the same as on the road etc. mine ~& Mike's were run up in 4th too

they will give a true at the hub figure (which is going to be pretty similar to the 'ATW' figure anyway, depending on rolling losses which would not be much with 50 psi in the tyres ) at the time of measuring, in the conditions that you are measuring at

but then so will a rolling road, and so will an engine dyno

as long as the measuring device is calibrated, then you can say that it will be accurate

it may not be the same actual power produced though, as there will be other factors that affect that - such as ambient temperature, pressure, water temperature etc. and as i said before, the most important factor to making power on a forced induction engine is the intercooling which will most likely not be the same on a chassis dyno of any kind as it would be on the road (unless it's in a full on wind tunnel)

this subject does not really require any argument - it's quite simple engineering principles
