I would tell any insurance co as they merely need to look on their computer to see anyway, as hooked up to DVLA!!
If you don't disclose a "MATERIAL FACT" IT CAN AND MOST LIKELY NULLIFY your insurance, if you claim.
I always laugh when people say they are only valid for three but remain for four years, if they are on there they are valid for FOUR years from date of conviction.
A trick to have them removed for FREE is to rereg your license at a different address such as friends then when it comes re reg it back, if points are expired they are taken off automatically saving you money!!

they are only valid for the "totting up" system for 3 years! they are on your licence for 4 years and you have to declare them to your insurance for 5 years!!
