Default Peugeot turbo diesel engine differences??

Hi,

What differences are there in these engines??? my brother has just bought a D turbo with a knackared engine and we need to broaden our scope for a replacement. I have also been told that the XTDT's are faster, is this true??

Cheers

Scott

Ah did this myself. The earlier engines change couple of times mate.

I had a 97 306 DTurbo and replaced the engine from one out of a 93. Just an awkward job as there are subtle little changes between the two like speedo drive the early is mechanical and the late is electrical, ended up having to change the wiring looms. But when thats done the two fuel pumps are different so a little time with the HBOL and a soldering iron is required.

It's not straight forward if you change earlier for later or visa versa.

All the engines are the same on the power side, however the earlier engine with the bosch fuel pump is easier to tweak

its a L reg anyhow, so most of the 1.9 TD from peugeot / Citroen are the same?? he wants a front mount so a 405 or a xantia lump might be best.

Well if he is gonna go the xantia route why not have a look at the 2.1 or 2.5 td's?

It's not as if they are bundles of cash are they? a complete 2.5 xantia on ebay are normally only £300-£500? might be worth a look?
