Default Finis code check please (6140417)

Been looking for some wheel bearing dust seals (or grease retainers) for my 4x4 sierra cos on a 91 J plate - front wheel bearing.

These are the seals that go on top of each bearing inner race, effectively locking the bearing in place, while providing a seal.

You get two in a ford wheel bearing kit

My dealer has managed to get me the "dust seal" which goes on the inside of the hub, around the driveshaft Gave them to me for free when I told him what I needed as they were otherwise going in the bin

Now, I have four retainers, finis code 6140417, but there is no way that they will fit, they are simply too wide to go in, never mind a snug fit... these babies won't go !!!

So, are they the right ones and I'm being thick, or, are they for another car
If they are wrong, what is the correct code please

Thank you
Greg

Just done a google search, and come up with this

http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/view...ibmessage=none

"Assuming it has rear Discs then FINIS numbers are:-
5 - 6146626
6 - 6140418
7 - 6140417
8 - 6156880
9 - 6586309
10 - 6102937
11 - 6133688"

There's a picture there that shows "7" as being the seals I am looking for but for the wrong end of the car !!!

I need the Front ones

Hi Greg

I’ve had a rummage around in my garage and found only one seal still in the Ford packaging. The FINIS code on the outside is 1630309. I can take a picture of it if you like and post up.

Cheers
John

Hi Greg

I thought £3.80 for a seal was a bit cheap. I’ve looked through my receipts, and I paid £17.93 plus vat for one.

Cheers

You're quite right, just called Ford, and the code you've given me is correct for the fronts, they had indeed ordered rear ones (4 of them came to around £17).

Shocking thing is the price, £18-odd each for the fronts
