I'm thinking about going on a cruise holiday but not sure if it's what I want.. basically I just want a couple of weeks off on my own, away from old blighty, technology, cars, etc., spend a couple of weeks in a pool, reading a book or ten, etc.. don't just want some cheapo beach holiday in overcrowded spain..

.. but i'm wondering if cruises are just full of pensioners which take you to 3rd world shitholes only to catch malaria?

Used to work for P&O Cruises and I can recommend them wholeheartedly. If you want peace and quiet, go on one of the adult only ships, not the family ones with kids running riot.

Personal choice would be one of the Scandinavian cruises, but at the moment I think they are all doing the rounds round the Med.

Plenty to do onboard as well.

I went on one probably about 10 years ago for 2 weeks around the med and it was quality!! Waking up to a new destination every morning, plenty to do on board and the food was awesome [6 meals a day ]

I would deffo recommend it!
