Default My Ford parts place should take some tips. lol

Went to my local Audi dealer yesterday. All I wanted was the parts department but wasn't sure where to go so asked in the showroom expecting to be given directions to the usual portacabin setup. . I approached the girl on the desk and the conversation went;

Me: Could you tell me where I'd find your parts department please?
Girl: I shall fetch the parts manager for you sir.

Off she goes to find parts manager

Girl: I'm very sorry sir the parts manager is with a customer at the moment. He will be with you as soon as he can. Would you like a coffee while you wait sir?
Me: No I'm fine but thank you.

About 2 minutes pass and I'm looking at a rather sexy spanking new RS4

Girl: I'm very sorry for the delay sir.
Me: I've only come in for some bootlid badges you don't need to go mad love.
Girl (with a beaming smile): No sir we treat all of our customers the same whether they are purchasing one of these or just some valve caps. Are you sure I can't get you a coffee while you wait?
Me: Er. No I'm fine but thanks all the same (really wanted to ask to see her boobs at this point as she was fit as fuck) .

Sales manager arrived and took me through to a very posh section and I was really under the impression they thought I was buying a £40k car. But the guy sat me down in a comfy leather chair offered me a coffee and started to go through the tailgate badges. I was absolutely gobsmacked. I spent a grand total of £35 on nick nacks and was treated like royalty.

As I got my paper work and headed back to the carpark the girl on the counter called over

Girl: Did you get your badges sir ?
Me: Er.. yes. Thank you very much
Girl: Not a problem sir, thank you, see you again.

Beats the Hell out of the oil stained grumpy old man grunting at me in the Ford parts department "What the Hell is an RS?"

Proper impressed

My missus had a stand up row with a guy at Ford because he told her Ford had never built any turbo charged Escorts. Wouldn't even beleive the car was turbo's even when she lifted the bonnet and pointed at it. Think he told her it was for the aircon or something.

ford dealerships do look a bit rank, you should see slough's

i needed to go to a BMW dealer when i owned one and i was impressed by the service and the building and the MILF/GILF at the desk, Ford should build some cutting edge poncy building like the yuppy brands

thing is, audi can afford to have peole offering you butlering services while you wait as you've probably shelled out elevnty seven squillions pounds buying the car and getting it serviced

it's not like ford when you can buy a snotter for £20 and change the oil every 5 years is it

You'll read on rs246 and alike that audi customer service is very hit and miss and i'll have to agree tbh, my local audi aren't very helpful at all, infact i am still waiting for a phonecall from friday morning they were gonna phone me back, and before that they were supposed to phone me in five minutes, 2 hours later i had to call them.

very unprofessional in my opinion.

what seems to be said on rs246 is they aint to cluded up these days on the specialist older models, much the same as taking a cosworth to your local dealers because it aint running right, very few will know what they are doing.

more about the general attitude, seem they are helpful and polite, whatever model you have, and dress like! + offering tea etc whilst you wait,
tho VW offer you chilled cartons of ribena

haha popped into ford.

The misses has lost the locking wheelnut key on the ZS so want to buy a new one to get the nuts off 25 quid.

Gets sent to the parts department, guy says you need to go to customer services

Go to customer services, girl says they are 25 quid, but you can't buy a replacement nut, you have to buy a new set

Fine, but will it be the same key so i can remove the nuts that are on there?? No she says!

So I ask "if i order a new set, can one of your guys pop the old ones of for me?"

Yes, she says, it will be 35 quid and you'll have to book it in plus the 25 for the nuts

Sickener is that i am going to have to pay the 35 quid as they are impossible to remove without the key, can't get a socket on it on nothing, tried everything.

Robdogs, especially not letting me order the replacement key, if they can get them off, they can work out which key they need to order surely, they are original ford locking nuts

the locking nut thing is because the new replacment keys come from america or something and take months to get here. So it's easier to fit a new set.

You havent been to Benfield Ford on York Road, Leeds then?? Brand spanking new building, snazzy lighting etc. staff are still fucking useless.

I got my Focus serviced there at 12.5k, it's a fleet car and the front tyres were getting a bit low and said could you change them. They said no they arent low enough you've got another month left on them, book it in in a month and we'll change them.

Took it back a month later and was without my car for 2 days because they took the front tyres off only to then realise they didnt have any tyres in stock to fit back on, and couldnt get any til the next day. For fucks sake they're not ridiculously huge, they're only 205/50 R17's! You'd think they'd stock tyres like that wouldnt you, being a main dealer ffs.

So i was without a car for 2 days because it's nigh on impossible to get a courtesy car out of them.

I'll be giving Coopers at Oulton a try at 25k

the shite you lot talk about ford dealers is just shocking seriously shocking

ive work at a ford part department for ages and the amount of tossers who dont know fuck all and act like YOU the cunt cause they own a cossie and assume ive never owned a car in my life is unbelivable,,, generally the customer is a ignorant cunt with a attitude problem and then you have to spoon feed the prick alll the infomation to be told " mate your wrong"

as for tyres,,, mate NONE of our type fitters remove a tyre UNLESS theres one in stock,,, and it aint fucking hard to work out as you have to book the parts on the job before you pick the fucking tyre,,, if it aint in stock the computer WONT let you book it otut

as for slough,, well thats destined to be closed down when the hayes branch gets extended hence its never had money spent on the place

theres LOTS of stuff happening in the ford parts system over the next 18 months that will mean when you order a part that aint in stock you will get it within 4 hours rather than over night ect

why dont you try and WORK at a parts department before you judge them

i now have to deal with EVERY car brand and supply parts for them and honestly you dont realise how fucking thick some of the back street garages are,,,, some of em get the hump cause I cant tell if the cars got abs,,, EVEN THOUGH THE FUCKING MONKEY HAS THE CAR INFRONT OF THEM AND THERE BEING PAIED TO WORK ON THE CAR

as for the dealers dont understand cars,, well my techs managed to rebuild a erst gear box in less than a hour and changed the fork and even found other issues with it that people may not have noticed

wonder how many of YOUR garages car rebuild a gearbox

the mastertechs are actually well trained people who are MECHANICS and not fucking gloryfied fitters

seriously ill test MY knowlege of fords against any of you muppets who use a main dealers

as for the missinformed person about lock wheel nuts,, if they was FORD mcgaurd nuts as fitted as standard all the spare keys ( 15 of em ) are held i the dealers in a red blow moulded case which means that you never had ford fitted ones

oh and if you ahd your key number ( and i bet you dont like every other tosser i deal with who thinks I should have all the info for all of there cars ) then you can get the spare keys delivered from GERMANY in 10 days

oh and the dagenham branch has most of them in stock anyway so if it was my old place you could get it withing 24 hours TOPS !!!

so maybe your missing parts or you got a shite dealership

either way i dont feel that making a customer who wants a badge wait 45 mins good business sence as i have a target to take 3k a day,,, that means dealing with 200 seperate customers a day and that means that if i made all of them coffee you would be charged council tax for the amount of time you would need to be in a dealership

hell i get the hump if im left waiting for more than 5 mins,, fuck imagine you was parked on a meter

the art of business is TAKING MONEY,,, customer service is for when you are shite at giving the customer what he came in for in the first place

btw service departments are ment to make you feel special,,, but thats cause there about to sting you with a 500 quid more up-sale when your car gets serviced and the curtesy car is for the shonky shite box motors that aint gonna be done in time,,, not cause your a special customer as you may feel

im suprised how people get this idea about how dealers work and MISS the bigger picture

a GOOD dealership is one that you see once a year for a short period of time,,,, thats the ones that are doing there job right

a good car is a car thats taken for a service and NOTHING seems different,,, if you notice a difference then there was a problem with your car

I still have the original ford case that the wheel nuts came in with codes etc on the box along with a picture of the nut and key and all ford brand.

when i went in they said that was no good (didn't even glance at the box, I would have got a slip with a seriel number on when the car was new and they need that.

OK, i thought, then the sales person smirks and says "you wont have it no one does, you will have lost it"

Made me feel so welcome

I disagree, if customer service sucks you go to a different dealer or try a different brand, therefore not comming in and handing over money.

Also nothing was said that the dealer can't get the old lockers off, just he wanted £35 to do it.

P.s. i wasn't aware they were held in dagenham or germany, i just know it's something my ford dealer won't do cos it's too much hassle, which means a new set each time.

thats a wanky dealership mate

try visiting a proper dealership in future and dont ask a saleman as they know fuck all about parts ,, all they car about is car sales,, after they sold it they aint ment to deal with you again untill its part ex time

hence he fobbed you off to aftersales

miss informed bad parts people

theres a mcgaurd A4 sheet,,, same as a request for vin plate,, ok its harder than looking on microcat,,, but then its hes fucking job

and customer service is only needed if you cant do the job right in the first place

had he came into see me then he would have got me to check if dags had it in stock,, if not then the form filled in a week later he would have had to locking wheel nuts

no need fo customer service there as all ive done IS THE FUCKING JOB IM PAIED TO DO

the place where i work at now is CUNT for certain things,,, as ive got 100 page catalogues to use if i cant find in on one of the programs i got and have to manually look up part numbers,, its a REAL cunt but i have to do it

hell the techs at work have to get dirty at times and they also have to fit them fucking heavy galaxy auto gearboxes on average 3 times a month and they fucking HATE doing em.... but they do as thats what there paied to do

thats the problem with white collar workers,, too many get the jobs cause they dont wanna work hard

when i went for the interview for the job i got now i was warned that its not a main dealer that im applying for,,, not there to act as a business so they sell cars,,,im there to make money not fuck about all day cleaning the dirt out of my nails

btw my job sucks and pisses me off and i aoint been there a month yet

but the wages and the laugh makes up for it

even though im an audi part advisor, i have to agree with ginge, its not the brand so much, but the wanky dealerships that treat people like idiots on occasions

no one brand can be that crap at parts/aftersales, all down to who runs it really

Maybe I just got the 2 unhelpful ones or maybe i have a face they wanted to slap

I appreciate that to formally take the nuts off they have to book it in and naturally the will be a minimum charge.

Ok, if they really can't get me a replacement key, fine, but honestly, i felt like smacking them in the face, just the smugness, and unwillingness to explain the crack, just instantly made me feel like not giving them a feckin penny.

I am going to take it to another ford dealer and book it in, don't care if it is miles away, would rather do that than deal with them mugs again

well said

there are plenty of ford parts people that do know what they are on about

in regards to RS cars , and there are a fair few customers that go in to

the parts dept with the wrong attitude , the amount of people i have seen

walk out of the parts dept without the part they wanted cos they were

being pricks ( even though part in stock )

whats the part number for a focus zetec oil filter 1060771?

my focus has a miss fire,,, should i change the plugs or leads first see service and get it booked in but i suspect coil-pack but the cat maybe damaged

ive got a puddle in the passenger footwell of my focus,, it was serviced weeks ago,, i think they have broken something,, what could it be see service

my focus heaters only work on number 1 and number 4,,,, how much for a new heater blower we don't keep them on the company so it's unlikely to be that, see service

my fiesta is only blowing out cold air,,, how much is it to clean out the heatter matrix this is parts, see service for a quote on work to be done to your car, but it'll be the heater solenoid

erm

close

filter is 1066071,,, close enough as your a phone boy i guess

coilpack is spot on

leak in footwell is the lack of butyl tape when they changed the pollen filter and so it leaks when you wash the car or it rains,, which is alot in this country,,, but again your a phone boy so ill let you off for that as its a service matter

focus heater problem is the leak down the loom onto the heater resistor,, cant remember the part number but when doo is onlike he will remember,, its fucking easy too , hes also got a good chance he will need a new connector section of the loom,,,, and for some reason ford also make this repair section,,,, dont know why though as its not like its a comon problem

heater valve is spot on though

oh and the oil is the EASIEST thing int he world,,, all fords apart from the old galaxy diesels use the same 5w30 semi synth as the petrol cars

so,,,, you was "ok",,, good job you work as a phone boy like me as you would be just as shite as me on back counter

btw i dont work front counter as some of the customers with a attitude i wanna smash there faces through the display cabinet,,, especially when they ask for parts for there mk7 escort

I have never got the escorts thing

MK 5 is the cossy shape, and mk 6 is the rounded front and rear model, but what is the Mk 5 with the rounded mk6 style rear lights, 5.5?

apart from that when its dead its fucking boring

and at my place there was a cunt who used to come in EVERY few day and ask for stupid fucking trim clips and wiring loom clips for his fucking pikey 1.1 fiesta and ALWAYS would say "oooo theres expensive" cause it wa a quid and i would have to tell him that it actually costs 20 quid for me to serve the tight fisted tosser as he took 1 hour of my time looking through fucking slides for the clips then we had to order the shite in vor and make 15p profit a day out of the wanker

infact i used him as one of the reasons why i left,,,,, honestly its in my leaving letter,,,, but i called him old stinky pikey bloke to save his identity

as with audi as you could proberly imagine we get lots of posh twats in, that really really dont have a clue what the own, what engine size it is etc, which allways amuses me

and people that buy stuff, and then expect me to fit it (allways annoys me)

maybe im in the wrong trade
