My S1 was built by monkeys! But corrected by MSD
I bought my S1 a couple of weeks ago & have had a few issues with it to say the least
So firstly the steering wheels was all over the place & i was told that the steering rack had been changed so we thought it might just have been a ball joint or something but it was abit worse than that!!!!
So here's a quick list of faults so far.......
The steering rack didnt have any bushes in the mounts hence the steering wheel turning about 1/2 a turn before actually doing anything
The hub nut was only on finger tight
The car was idling mega high & no matter what i done i couldnt sort it out & then after abit of advice from Stu (MSD) i managed to get the revs down bit it still wasnt running right so Stu told me to take it to him to have a look & get it all set up correctly etc & upon taking the car there this is what we found.........
The car had been bodged to fook & me Stu & Dan couldnt stop pissing ourselves when the car ran WITHOUT any of the boost hoses on
The throttle position sensor was faulty,
The spark plugs were fooked,
The system was pressure tested & had various air leaks,
The cold start injector was fitted WITHOUT a gasket!!
The metering unit air flap was found to be jammed open THIS WAS DONE BY SCREWING A NUT & SELF TAPPING SCREW INTO THE TRAVEL STOP BRIDGE TO STOP THE METERING FLAP FROM RETURNING TO IT'S CORRECT BASE IDLE CONDITION!!
The electro magnetic fuel pressure regulator was wound down excessively causing all sorts of problems & i was told by Stu that this was probably done in a vain attempt to try & get the fueling right,
The fueling was way off the mark,
THE COLD START SENSOR & COOLANT SENSOR WERE CONNECTED BUT TO THE WRONG SENSORS!!
Various wires had been bodged together & live wires were uncovered!!
I cant thank Stu & kenny at MSD enough for sorting out ALL of the above mentioned faults out & also giving it an oil & filter change as the oil was contaminated to fook!
The car drove back from Blackpool a treat, it's running brilliantly & is really nice to drive (it also feels safer as there's no strong smell of fuel anymore)
The moral of this story is - if your buying a car that has been worked on by monkeys walk away
A hugh thanks once again to Stu & Nicole for inviting me to stay over & making me feel welcome in their home
Here are a few pic's of the S1 at MSD

is this the car that Roosie was selling/sold?
Ł1800??? if so, its a cheap car.. No excuse tho with the things that were wrong with it.. but if I paid fook all as above, then a few issues which are not big bucks, then job done..
still seems like a good deal IMO..

let get my part sorted.
i only had this car for a month if not bit more. i think AJ knows i hadnt done nothing to this car bar fit a new lower arm. i told him about the steering which in the end i give up looking at it.
i hadnt touched the engine part of the bay as i didnt really have it that long or drive it enough.
so before anyone starts saying i left that engine in that state i didnt thats the state i got it in.
no ginge its not the same car that car ended up spot on
the revs went to bad when i had it when i first got it was reving at 1k then when sold it it was about 1200 rpm obvously after a long drive from aj its got worse but thats why there is a post a month back saying "why is my car reving slightly higher"
hope we have this sorted if i knew this aj i would have not sold it or told u either way.
btw the bloke i bought it from was from Norwich dont come on here dont think but well into rs`s he took engine out and sprayed it obvously didint put it back properly.
rant over

Your very welcome AJ, you know that pal.
Im still giggling at the comment i made...
"Fook me, this thing would probably run without any hoses on, let alone the dump valve or oil filler..." (As it ran fine without those 2, in fact, it ran BETTER!!)
AJ started giggling like a kid and picked up a screwdriver...
How we laughed when it purred!!
