I can't beleieve that insurance brokers and underwriters have not realised that most people who own a modified car also own and drive another car - i.e the shed.

I am surprised they have not started doing single policy to cover both with terms for mileage etc specified for them doing the quotation etc.

At the end of the day if you take £800 a year to cover someones Escort Cossie where is the risk in putting a Pug 205 GRD on the policy for an extra £50 a year....? I reckon the first company to see sense and do that will coin it in....!

Tony since your doing a bit of advice on this post can i add my tuppence.....

I called up a week ago and was asked what kind of car (my S1) and my NCB and my age which is 28 (jesus, already!) now i only have two years bonus behind me (no accidents or convictions though) and before i got around to mods which i did state was modified from the outset and i was told i couldnt get cover.

im a bit disppointed to read in your earlier post only a 1 year minimum is required.

Im not having a go but can you tell me if it was right or wrong to be told this (i had also declared club memberships during our intro chat). but i did want to come on with greenlight due to passionford and word of mouth.

Cars covered now with AF @ 460 fully comp declaring all mods but if as you say its a years min then i will try again come renewal time.

Cheers

Pete

i hate Adrian Flux - i paid 2100 when i first bought the cossie and it was apparantly standard mods wise never again but then that was on a fully comp policy as i didnt even know about classic car insurance then.

Tony - do you guys insure E30 325i BMWs, modified ofcourse

Hi pete,

Sorry to hear that we couldnt help..

If you have 2 years NCB and a performance/modified car you have what we're looking for.

Our main Underwriters do exclude some postcode area's in which they have experienced poor historic claims performance, but Edinburgh isnt one of these.

From what you have said, you seem like the type of risk that we do wish to cover.

Can you PM me roughly when you called and the phone number that you used to call us, along with your actual name/postcode as this would allow me to trace the call and have a chat with the individual concerned here to find out as to why the underwriter declined.

I know we've missed out on helping you this year, but if you hear something that doesnt sound right please dont be shy to ask for either myself or Neil here to review the situation, alternatively - PM me on here and i'll look into things for you.

Kind regards & many thanks.

Tony
