Default what would cause??

On a 1.8 zetec what would cause when coming to a stop and putting the clutch in (or sometimes but very rarely when changing gear) the revs drop as normal but dip right down into the bottom of the rev counter and then the engine will stall?

When sitting there ticking over it isnt a problem no fluctuations (spl) in the revs or anything just the issue with pulling up to a stop mostly??

Try cleaning out the idle air control valve.

if that does nothing try a different vehicle speed sensor.

Usually it's the vehicle speed sensor. Located near the point where the speedo cable joins the gearbox.

On other engines its often the ICV, but on zetecs is common for it to be the VSS im led to believe.

Mine does it too (1.8 mondeo) but not bad enoguh for me to be arsed to fix it, lol

Are you sure it is not lumpy when it idles ?
Try also checking the "T" piece.

She is a touch lumpy on tick over but never enough to even attempt to stall happily sits there ticking over but does fluctuate (spl) a little but i put that down to wanting a good service (ooer lol)...

So on monday i am getting..
plugs
leads
oil filter
air filter
oil obviously
sump plug
new tps any idea how much?
new speed sensor as above?

I'm going against it being the ISCV as she doesnt behave like the last couple of zetecs i've had with ISCV troubles as in coming to a stop but the revs stay high or during gear change the revs rise dramaticaly..
