Engine Advantages Rollers - Whats peoples opinion of them?
The transmission losses on that graph are absolutely MASSIVE and same for several other cars run the same day, is this something other people have oserved at EA, or is this unusual?
Over 40bhp lost from an XE with an F20 gearbox is just NOT realistic at all, I dont see how that figure can be correct at all based on my experience of the same setup.

The Wheels figure if anything is lower than you would expect (although obviously that may just be that the engine is down on power) its the 25%+ transmission loss from a fairly efficient FWD box that just seems way out.
Im not having a go, its possible the box in question is knackered or that the brakes were sticking slightly which would lower the wheels figure and raise the losses, loads of possibilities, so just interested to here peoples opinions.

My Nova made 191 at the wheels with 220 at fly from memory
I can check graph at home later, it has a fresh built F20 box
This was run last month
Edit to add
Its a redtop running carbs, not standard engine

My old Stg 3a+ saff made 369.8 BHP and 356 Lbs/ft , 341BHP@the wheels, the spec was 25psi dropping to 23psi, 7.7:1 comp, 25/26mm head, BD14 both cams, Green 803 injectors, T34.48, 500 cooler, vernier pulleys etc, I always thought that it was a bit optimistic, but the car absolutly flew and beat quite a few supposedly considerably more powerful cossies and other cars , Bit of an oddball spec regarding the headwork/cams etc, as the car was built for 400+, but the original lad I built the engine for decided to stick to 803's and a .48 turbo .....
The car was mapped there as well, and I am convinced it was a crap job, as it was fine on full boost and felt rapido , but part throttle was jerky and fluffy, and the car was awful on fuel, 20/30 miles to Ł10 of juice, and whenever you were booting it and changing gear fast, or coming down from a high speed run (73mph ) it used to pop fucking HUGE flames out, great big fireballs , not like a touring car "pop" flame, but ones that lasted 5-10 secs if you were on a trailing throttle long enough, and lit the whole road up at night - very sooty exhuast as well, so I imagine it was probably running about 90% C.O

My mate just got dynoed last week there in his Cossie at 374bhp @27 psi. Its standard internals, with a T34.63, RS500 pro alloy cooler, light blue injectors and BD10 and standard cam.
Does that seem right as a few people have said its EA rollers and it cant be that kinda power?

LOL - I remember when he was running that nail of a Mk1 about, can't believe he's finally finished that one. Hats off to him though, looks like he's done a good job of it!

20K+ Super Poster.
my XR4x4 made 170bhp on their rollers.
they DEFINATELY had the speed vs RPM wrong tho, as according the graph it revved to 500rpm past what the revlimiter was
didnt trust the figure at all

Ummm I'm not an expert on rolling roads and figures etc but I took my car there in March and it made exactly what I was expecting. Infact the guy asked me what I was expecting (I said 170, as tested at Janspeed) and he did 3 runs til it came up 171.3, so it was spot on for me.. exactly what I was expecting. Nice guys in there and a rather mad dog in the office.

Oh and potentially if it was run leaner too, if you look at all the SCS dyno plots of course!
(12.5 in the car? umm NO!)

EAs rollers massively overead from what I've heard. Kev.H ran his FRS there and with minimal mods, with which every other FRS would typically make 250-260BHP, his made 295BHP!

...to the original question...
...they are like any other rollers..inaccurate as they are meant as a diagnostic tool only with an option to get a very rough power figure...the dyno is the only true way of finding BHP.
