Default MY NEW MITSUBISHI EVO 5 sorry its not a ford!PICS..

Finally picked up my evo5 on fri and all i can say is wow what a car, the handling is totaly superb and the power delivery is just awesome, the 4 pot brembos are very very good, the seats are superb and the build quality is surprisingly very good inside (compared to the impreza!!!!!!!!!) and it looks so in yer face its got aircon, climate control, folding mirrors, ayc, 68k miles...but the fuel consumption is shocking got 154 miles to the first tank booting it a bit but also that includes 75 miles cruising on the motorway!! oh well i was expecting that, been told it will do 275 miles to a tank if i drive like a pussy!! thats not gona happen lol.....im as happy as a pig in shit at the mo...sorry its not a ford but i wanted a fast reliable car to drive everyday when im not working and ive found the perfect car to suit my needs
pics.........when i got it home with the oldskool orange indicators fitted and HUGE front plate which has been changed to a 3/4 sized 1..

changed them to clear fronts and sides with chrome bulbs looks sooo much better/newer

and the interior lovely alacantara recaro's have since fitted Ralliart car mats

side on

rear...have removed rear fog light as it looks shit

gona lower it on eibachs just to drop the front down another inch or so,also gona fit a double a pillar pod with hks boost and oil pressures gauges, and an apexi boost controller, carbon rear adj spoiler insert, carbon exh surround, ralliart graphics...the car has an exmag exhaust, hks ind kit, decat, ecutek remap and tein suspension, blitz bov, power is about 320bhp/320llbt torque@20psi boost, does me
cheers all

I was recommended the Apexi unit which I have.

Mine was the same as yours, and green to start believe it or not!

These were the bits that fell off when I gently placed it on the rag

Now imagine that lot flying into the turbo, let alone the fact that it was full of holes and didn't actually filter anything!

your power/torque figures seem a little low for 20psi, with similar mods my 5's making 365bhp and 345lbft, be worth getting it on the rollers and checking all is well

fancy selling me those amber indicators ?

and 275 miles to a tank is fuckin dreamland 175 is a lot more realistic ive honestly never had more than 180 miles from a tank, no matter how i drive, even on a bit of a motorway run, theyre just completely wank on juice

nice car but my 400bhp cossie gives way more juice per tank than that

my personal best has been 150 miles to a tank and that is ragging all the way from full to empty. Best I had is around 250ish.

Very nice cars. My mate and I played with the map on mine last week as he has some software out of New Zealand to play with it. He has redone his map on his IX and is running 229KW at the wheels, dynoed basically from a boost controller, exhaust and filter and a lot of fettling with the map!

We richened mine up in a couple of lean areas and it actually is even more economical now and lowered the idle which probably offsets it.

I get over 450kms to a tank now (45 litre) on highway and town driving on my VII.

The 5 is the last model I would buy due to looks and reliability and not wanting to spend big on repairs/costs in the near future.

Enjoy it, they are a lot of fun

cheers stu .........prefer the 5 to the 6 i dont like the front bumpers wth the offset plate...(to alfa romeo-ish), rear spoiler looks cack with the 3 flimsy mounting points, and the seats are the same design but the alacantara is on the inside and fabric webbing on the bolsters which fray and wear easier .......just think the 5 is the best of the bunch of evo's personnelly ...........i do love the ralliart mudflaps tho gona get some in either red or black

weve recently sold out evo and that knocked out 324 at 16 psi, so your figure seems a tad low,

and 260 ish is totally possible out of a tank of fuel, and the reason there so thirsty is its so hard to drive them slow, they just want to go , all the time,

how do you find the ayc though, i gotta say i didnt like it at all, felt very strange as it moved about lool,

get rid of the standard recirs valve if you still have that to, they leak,

lovly car though

which Evo did you sell?

i know the 7, 8, 9 appear to be a lot better on fuel but a they do come with a 10 litre bigger petrol tank and most with a 6 speed box which would go a long way towards the extra mileage per tank.

ive owned mine since september last year and ive never had more than 182 miles per 50litre tank of V-Power needless to say ive got a few Shell Pluspoints

I've had a few evos and never had such terrible fuel consumption as you lot!

A decent map helps though. Strangely the most powerful one I had (mapped by abbey m'sport) was the most economical too (obviously not when flat out though) but averaged reasonable fuel consumption.

get rid of the standard recirs valve if you still have that to, they leak,
Or just reverse the standard one so when it's on boost it's pushing closed as opposed to pushing it open, works a treat.

On a side note...

How the hell did you manage that?! It looks like it's been in a fire or something. I've had many cars with those filters and that is not normal. Was it one of those ebay fakes or something?

Granted they are shite filters (as far as filtration goes) but that is not something that normally happens to them.

Best filter in my experience is the Apexi one.
