Easy mate!

I thought it was the worm drive that was a pain in the arse? See, I'm the very opposite of you...I changed the cable when I needed to change the worm and drive

Cable is a piece of pi$$ to fit M8

dont think you need to go under the car if i remember rightly, does it not run along the bulk head?

Max 1hr to do the job

sent a pm to paul @yorkspares to see if he has any.

driving the car with no speedo is major paranoia.i crawl past speed cams

PM Matt Lewis Ste....

He had loads of 4x4 cables in stock IIRC. Easy enough job & doesn't have to be on axel stands.

Good luck with the dash board

Yes thats right, you get to it down between the inlet manifold and inner wing but im sure it runs from there up past the inlet and is clipped onto the bulk head along past the rear of the head. (beside the wiring loom)

the worst part is getting the cable disconected from the speedo unit.pinch and squeeze

afterwards many fingers bleed

is it the 2 peice one of the one peice cable though?
there are 2 sorts, early and late so make sure you get the right cable length

you can also use the same part from the xrx4x4 or the dohc ghia 4x4's

as for teh other end that goes into the front near side, it's screwed into place but you might need to spanner it out as they can be a bit tough to unscrew

also make sure that the cable goes into the square bit of the drive gear otherwise you'll trash it before you've even started

yes mate
but on the cos you will probably be able to get to it past the inlet manifodl
if it was a V6 then you'd have to get underneath and start spannering because they are right cunts to undo

and yes, if you have the swoopy 92 spec dash in there, it's nice fun to get the dash out, and even more fun getting things to line up properly afterwards
