anyone had a Volvo S80? good or bad?
bit bored of the golf TDI 
and been looking at some volvo S80's and you can pick em up for about 4-5k and the spec is preety good (leathers/air con cruise control,climate etc) looking at the diesels but not sure if they are to old man(ish)

The father of my girlfriend did have a 1999 Volvo S80 2.9 Exclusive (full options) automatic.
He bought the car with only 40.000 miles, and he drove the car till it had done 110.000 Miles.
It was horrible, almost everything you can imagine did broke
A lot of eletrical problems, airbag, abs, in dash navi, radio, telephone, electrical chairs, emission problems, brakes, they eat tires, oil cooler, radiator, airco etc. In the 3 years he had the car, it has cost him about 6500 pounds for repairing (volvo workshop)
He was always a big fan of Volvo cars, but this was the last one he had ever bought. Now he drives Mercedes

get a T6 2.8 twin turbo!!! awesome engine, but as tds3 said, theyre trouble, not just up to 2001, but all of them
buy a V70R instead mate, theyre awesome cars for the money! less than 5k easy job
