its not ace performance again is it? a month is nothing, the garage had my car for 17 weeks after quoting me a 2 week job for my engine conversion. i went to trading standards to get the proper way forward but got the car back before having to go down that route.you cant take the car back and refuse to pay or the garage can involve the police, you have to pay for the work done up to that point but then finding someone to take on someone elses half done job will be a nightmare. they basically have you over a barrel as long as they have your car and the worst things get the more likely they are to do something sneaky to damage your car. once you get your car back though ,leave it a while then settle the score with the owner,no witness style

just to add onto above about damaging your car , have you seen it in the workshop throughout the work ?? if not check it very carefully when you get it back , ive heard a few stories of garages taking cars out for a spin and damaging them , then telling the owner its taking longer than expected while they bodge it back together quickly

are you serouis! can garges have the balls to do that!

but i have been checking up on my car, and the engine still isnt back in! it is all they have to do literally throw in the engine and thats it, and this has taken them over a week now because they keep booking other cars in before me, eveb tiough ive nearly been in that spot for a month and a half now!

there must be some sort of legal stuff i can say to scare them into hurrying up. but then i be woried that if the rush, they will miss something...

unfortunately at has been know to happen , a mate of mine bought a mint 4wd saf cossie ( 1 owner , 25k , fsh etc) for 12k from a garage but as it was on Irish plates he had to wait for the registration to be swapped over , they told him 3 days or so and kept ringing him to say there was a delay with the paperwork and it ended up being nearly a month , when he finally got it he was that happy to actually get it he signed the paperwork to say he was happy , wasn't until the next day he noticed the rear wheels looked out of line to the body , got underneath and discovered the chassis was well out of line ! turned out all the guys at the garage were having a bit of fun with it and smacked it into something and bodged it back together
