Default Time To Go?

Im having an "I dont like/need my car anymore" tantrum at the minute and Im thinking of getting rid of it.
(Partially down to the fact I think the head gasket has gone, I hope!)

Our lass has told me Im mad and thinks I should keep it, after all the moaning about wanting another I did, between when I sold the last one and got this one.

I think most people get this every now and then but I have a few options in mind as to what I could do, what do you lot think?

1 - Take my Sapph off the road and get a half decent runaround till I have the whole thing fully stripped, painted and completely rebuilt (including the engine) the way I want it. Its not needed but if Im to keep it and be totally happy with it its getting done once, properly. This however will take a very long time as money is very tight at the minute because just running the thing is crippling. Hopefully a new day job soon and eventually getting round to getting back into door work will sort this out.

2 - Keep my Sapph as an everyday car and get a loan for a nice 3dr as a toy to play in and keep minted.

3 - Sell the Sapph, buy a runabout and get a loan for a mint 3dr plaything.

4 - Sell the Sapph and get the loan and buy an Escort Cosworth to use as an everyday car and toy all in one. Never had a 4wd performance car and I like the Escorts.

5 - Sell the Sapph and get the loan and buy a Focus RS. Never been much of a fan of newer cars but the Focus is appealing to me at the minute for some reason.

6 - Sell the Sapph and get something sensible, I quite like the Audi A4 TDi at the moment.

Decisions decisions???????

I wouldn't have thought option 2 was a good idea if money is tight running one cossie like you say in option 1.

Do you use it everyday?

Personally i would look at a cheap runaround, few hundred quids worth tops and do what you want to the saph as and when.

Its hard running the one I got at the minute because Im trying to get it how I want it while using it every day and repairing it when it goes wrong.

Think Im fighting a losing battle doing things the way I am.

If I was to get a 3dr and keep that minted then the Sapph would only get the essential maintenence done and wouldnt be as costly.

In that case i suppose it depends on how much you want a 3dr

Sounds like you're trying to live the dream and cant afford it

Cossies are expensive enough when a 2nd car but used daily you're asking for bother

If money is tight as said in option1 then i dont think that a big loan and an FRS is the answer. CERTAINLY not an esc cossie that would be silly. A4 tdi is more sensible!

Best option might be to buy a runabout until you can save and get the saff how you want it

We have a saff for everyday use and my 3 door and mk1 xr2 for weekends etc, The saff has been excellent so far,we have only had new tappets and a cam belt fitted , the 3 door has been a money pit tho as its now 21 years old bits are going wrong. Remember if your going to get a loan for a 3 door you have to pay that back each month aswell as running the 3 door and sorting the saff

COSWORTH = MONEY PITT

This is my second "money pit" now, at the minute its just a case of me living beyond my income I think. Ill have to stop spending as much as I do and look at my options properly. An Escos is definately the next one for me but hopefully in the near future a new job and getting back into door work should sort me out financially and I might be a bit closer to living the dream.
