FAO Escos & Focus RS Owners!!!!
Im currently thinking of selling the Sapph and these two cars are possible options as a replacement once I have persuaded Mr Bank Manager to lend me some money.
What are your opinions on them, reliabiltiy, good/bad points etc.
(The car will be used as a daily driver and a weekend plaything)
Thanks, Ian

Depends really, i bought mine as a daily runner for a few reasons
1 I've always wanted 1
2 Its the newest cossie so should be the most reliable less rusty etc
3 mines economical witht the cloosed loop
4 is 100% more special than a frs imo
But now i'm after a 3 door as i'll have the teg back on the road so i can have an ornament rather than a car lol

I always wanted an Escos, but due to the age/reliability/money needed spending in every area issues I went with the Focus, and as much as I would still love a sorted Escos, 3yrs on I'm still over the moon that I got the Focus!

Drop me a PM when you get back matey and if Im still on the lookout Ill have a drive down. It might help me decide if I like them enough to get one.
Might just come down to be nosy and have a look anyway.

For an every day car id say the focus would be better. The main reason being that i wouldnt dare leave my car anywhere out of sight, and if i HAD to have one as an every day car id have to get an average one and certainly not a mint or near mint one.
As regards reliability, i cant understand why people seem to believe that there soooo unreliable. Ok fair enough, you do get some bad ones, like you do with any car, but if you get a decent well cared for example then you shouldnt really have any major issues in my opinion.

Thats why mine is perfect for a daily driver, its all original panels no accident damage but its used and not a show condition car so it doest need wrapping up in cotton wool

I couldn't get rid of the FRS cos it's a superb car but the Escos is a must-have.

Got a Sapph but I feel the same about it. No reliability problems but I cant park it everywhere.

My heart said Escort Cosworth, but my wallet said Focus RS
Like pretty much every other FRS owner has already said in this thread; I always wanted an Escort Cosworth, but I'd be way too paranoid to park it anywhere, and I'd feel guilty using it every day.
The Focus is a fantastic car though, and I'm glad I went for one over a Focus ST or Astra VXR, it's quick; gets plenty of attention, and is quite cheap to run. However, I will never be happy until I've got my name on the logbook of a good, clean Esc cos.

Im not overly bothered about leaving it places, I was paranoid to death when I got my first cos then I realised that if they want it they will have it and its insured anyway. Dont get me wrong because Id be absolutely devastated if it went missing but what the point of having it if Im not gonna use it.

I know I could be biased as I have an Escos...but with me I want something that doesnt look the same as other cars on the road. I like the Focus but personally and no disrespect to FRS owners they look like every other focus you see on the road... If I had a focus I would be wishing it was an Escos...but more appealing and unique in my eyes. Sadly you have to make the decision what is best for you as it will be you paying the installments and not us.
Oh yeah, I have had the Escos for 5 years and still look at it and think that looks the bollox
neil

Thats what i was trying to say, if you have always wanted an escort you need to get it out your system as you would always pine for 1 in years to come
Just go get your loan and buy a fucking escort even if it is only for a year

I would buy your escos alps looks a stunner...I could quite happily have two escos.
I agree buy the Escort...at the end of the day its an Escort Cosworth...just say it a few times... practice saying " I have an Escort Cosworth "..it just rolls off the tongue... Its like a fine wine that will only get better with time.. say it again " I have an Escort Cosworth " mmmmm good
