Dave,

Can you put up a picture of your existing SECS monitor install.......IIRC it is a very tidy/pro job that you did on oyur Es Cos

I think Simon would be impressed!

phil, do you realise that its possible to get the ECU locked out so that you CAN'T edit it afterwards? lol

or is that not the real rason you dont want to use the ECU?

as i really cant think of any logical reasons you'd not want to use the SECS ECU unless you feel it's a faulty product

its cheaper, does more, easier to map (by a tuner ) and is just as easy to install

certainly Doug, thanks for the compliment

My new idea is a lot more planned, but if i could get hold of a monitor asap, i could get to work.

Would be good online advertising for Simon / SECS aswell i would imagine

IMANow..listen up...i KNOW you can only make minor adjustments and with all my trade prices its costing all in all around Ł500 INC MONITER without the need for the xtra Ł400-Ł500 live map as i am now running 4 greys only.

phil, why does the SECS ECU require a live map?

any competent tuner with the SECS software could simply make you up a map based on one of their own chips and send it to you on floppy disk or something... infact it'd probably be EASIER for them to do it for the secs ECU than it would be for a normal cossie ECU coz the software's easier to use... lol

however i dont think anyone does off the shelf chips for your engine, as nobody else would ever use such mismatched components

i consider myself quite a good judge when it comes to adding parts to the esc. I think the wheel is great.. so much so in fact that it must mean that all of your opinons mean jack

phil, WTF?

question: do i really care if your cars blows up, or you spend shedloads of money, or you get a shat product?

answer: no not really

therefore why would i be trying to point you in the direction you were initially taking?

maybe its becasue i have an understanding of how ECUs work and am trying to help you make the best decusion with all of the information at hand.

seriously, i cant understand why on earth you'd rather use an L8 ECU over a SECS ECU seeing as you have both options available.

what on earth is better about the L8? really, please tell me, as im obvously missing something

ps sorry to hear about your problems, genuinely

Whats best about the L8???????

Its proven to do the goods and works with the new pectel/collins diagnostic moniter which is brilliant and i can make the map supplied via a tuner perfect for my car.

The SECS aint proven really is it (plus i got worried at the recall )?....Great ECU mind..nice features but this option was a lot cheaper and WILL do want i want...at the end of the day i only need something to do a particular job dont i as long as it does it what does it matter WHAT it is My car aint excatly in a league where it "needs" a special ECU is it now

Phil,

I am not dissing your decision but.....

How many cars have blown up on Level 8...... Lots and lots
but people still use it and dont condemn it for melting pistons.

If just 1 car blows up on my S8 ecu I wont hear the last of it even
though its down to the tuner/mapper how it is set up.

My point is, irrespective of what ECU you fit, it must be set up and
fuel ratio/det tested to make sure the engine is ok.

Any as I have said TWICE before good luck with your car.
Glad you sold that shonky skyline !

Simon..you make it sound like your ECU will not blow an engine

ANY ecu is only as good as the mapper....so how you can diss an L8 is beyond me Its been about 14 odd years...S8 about 2 months...so to compare is unbeleivable.

Immy, actually the S8 has been around nearly 5 years but only recently
started selling to the public.
Been running in several friends car for ages.

I never made the claim about my ecu could never melt an engine but if I
gave that impression....sorry.

ANY ecu is only as good as the engine build spec/quality and the calibration
of the ecu maps.

May have to speak to you about some 5 bars soon as I keep getting asked about
selling them on !

Will be in touch Monday

As soon as I get down to Katies I shall post a video of the new SECS ECU monitor.....its only short mind, the pictures didnt come out great due to the sh*t camera I was using and the refresh rate on the display I think Simon said.

Video format is .MOV so go download Quicktime Player if you havent got it folks (www.download.com - quicktime).

phil, but what chip are you using?

and how can you use your monitor to adjust your map when its just been pointed out that this isn't how the monitor works

infact have you actually thought this through at all?

i missed all the posts from lasttime you built your engine n wondered why people gave you grief about using certain products... now i see where they're coming from

Your tuner can only rewrite the entire chip, not modify it. The monitor will NOT burn to the Eprom program, Once you key off, your back to the chip you started with...

phil, ok fuck it i cant be arsed anymore, i dont give enought of a shit about your car to bother

a few points tho... 1) everyone you meet in reallife is nice to you? maybe thats becasue most people are polite, courteous people who have manners and aren't wankers...

this is a trait you should try and embrace

2) LISTEN TO WHAT PEOPLE FOOKING TELL YOU, not everyone's out to put you down... maybe people tell you youre makigna bad decision becasue... erm... YOU ARE you obviously dont have all the facts so hy pretend like you do then make excuses when people prove their point

3) as you ARE aware i recently changed my mind about you and thought that maybe you were an ok guy...

ive just been proved wrong... again...

youre an arsehole phil plain and simple, and until you realise that you cant lash out at people becasue youve got a few problems then you'll remain to be an arsehole. just coz people find you amusing doesn mean that makes up for your behaviour.

now, enjoy your shiny new L8 and monitor, i hope you have much success and it doesnt end up fookin your car up.
