Why do most Sapphire Cosworth front bumpers look poor fit
Is their anything you can do to get a better fit on a sapphire front bumper, most never seem to be completely straight & the one i'm looking at has come away from the mounting on one side & is hanging down about an inch which makes it look scruffy, do they mount in exactly the same way as a 3dr bumper with 2 bolts in the middle & the plastic twisty bits on each end of the bumper ? I'm planning on buying it & tidying it up over a few weeks in my garage before using it, any advise on the front bumper appreciated.
Cheers Simon.

You'll find it's the mounting bracket that has rusted behind there, I had the same problem with mine. As a note, these are no longer available from Ford and ones from the breakers will be in the same condition. I've heard of people fixing it with a long self tapper. I had mt sprayer fabricate a replacement.

All the face lift sierras have poor fitting front bumpers compared to the mk1's, plus as other have said over time the mounting brakets can go making it look even worse.
Your dealing with a car made with 80's panel gap tollerances. One look at the poor fitting airfix kit that is the dash board sums it up what was the norm for ford back then .

Easy to make some brackets up though, I use a NUT + BOLT that goes all the way through the mount as there are some pikeys etc that like to steal them still.
If you carefully grind off a very small part of the large flat piece of support for the mount you can just slide a 13mm nut up there to secure with a nut bolt, thats what I did, just got to sort the droop out now.

this is exactly what annoys me!ive bought another bumoer and will try and sort this when mines painted because mines awful as below.
its dips away at the corners and in the middle ive kind of taken the attention away by unclipping the bar between the bumper and lights.
