Default DOT 2 brake fluid

Little question about brake fluids, and especially DOT 2, it was used ages ago, and as I read, it was used with drum brakes....
I know the main difference is in its boiling point, but are there any other real differences in the fluid???

My brother has an old american Ford, for those who like to know, a '64 Fairlane, and it has drumbrakes all round.
Now, does it harm the brake parts using DOT 4 fluid, or should he use DOT 2??

Thnx in advance!

DOT 4 will be fine, one of the CRITERIA is they have to be able to be mixed with all others, as few people flush out the brake lines etc when topping up.
Just a far more modern and better fluid, also a lot more resistant to water absorbtion than older stuff.
