Default Rust on brake discs??????

My car has been sat for a good while so the disc surfaces are rusty....do i just leave it and let the brake pads clean them up??????Then change to new pads???Or have i got to clean em up...if so best methods please

Brake pads will take that off no probs, just drive it

Depends how rusty Phil

I would whip the discs off and use a bit of emerry cloth on them

use the pads...just some gentle braking willl soon clean em up ...

i took mine off and used the electric sander on em till they shine again, spot on

Just drive it. That is also good for de-glazing the pads

some very fine sand paper and then give them i wipe over with paint thinners

when I put mine back on the road after a 16 mths lay off discs were rusty all over time I drove it not even 2 miles all back as new

Mine looked like that after standing for a year.
A quick drive round the block cleaned them up fine. Mind you one of the calipers was stuck on so that was extra clean (and very hot).

your best of just cleaning the disks, what people forget is after driving around the block, you only have to get back and clean all the shit from the disks thats now on your wheels!

i take it there's no way to prevent this rust on dicks? i mean you even get it after leaving the car after a wash, or even just overnight!

just looks mince but comes straight off after a short drive..
