Actually guys,, i'm not saying this is right- but last tuesday i was stopped on Ramper road north gainsborough on the 2nd dual carriageway stretch. I was driving a works vehicle on my way to sheffield wholesale market. The copper who pulled me informed the that the van was 2 weeks expired of its MOT. i was well pissed off- if the copper wasnt a copper i would of smacked him i was that annoyed. i put my trust in my employer to make sure things like that are seen to, the obvious things like tax, tires etc i see to myself.
Anyway i was issued a producer, bare in mind i am a young driver and have no penalties or any previous offences. I have just scraped my 2 year mark. Which means i am now allowed to recieve up to 12 points on my lincense, but it doesnt mean i want any of them. So today after constant getting at my boss its finally MOT'd and i trot off to the local police station. I produce the MOT certificate - and ask for the worst case scenario. she said i would recieve a penalty with probably points with an option to plead guilty on paper, she said my boss would have action taken against him too; she also advised me to plead innocent and protest this in court!!!
But i also contacted a solicitor, he said the PC who advices me about the points etc was incorrect- that it is not an endorsable offence. who do i believe ? who would you believe?
The most maddening part is that, us younguns are stereotyped into being boy racers etc,, fact is my boss hates me when it comes to vehicles, because i am the pickiest driver at my work place, even down to wiper blades. Why should i drive a vehicle with defects? minor defects i can live with but he expects us to stop bitching and get on with the job,,

blimey OLD thread but then we do tell people to use the search button lol!!
I realised the other week I had never mot'd my car since buying it, to busy organising family and friends mot's that had thought mine had been done at some point.
Had been out for 3 months!!

What does it matter if this thread is old? It is still relevant.
Driving a vehicle without an MOT is a non endorsable offence, the PC who informed you otherwise is an idiot, the solicitor is unsurprisingly correct.

you'll never guess what my mate told me the other day, the cayanne's mot was out by 7 months and he didn't realise until he looked in the glovebox for some paperwork
i thought him running around in his 456 for 4 months with no mot was ok seing as it's garaged al the time, but the porkers his daily driver
but yes, no mot is a non endorsable offence until you read this
