Nah everything was off bounds due to Hicks & Gellette being there, as we were walking out they were entering the Centenry stand.

Speaking to the waitress and she said that only certain box members can gain access, dunno how true it was though!

Loved the ground, reminded me of how Highbury used to be!

What are the boxes like at Anfield? I was in the Exec.box at Spurs yesterday and was VERY impressed! Hospitality was superb and we had our own private outside viewing balcony!! Couple of pics, one of the box inside and the other the view at kick off!! Not a fan of either team but was invited by my company so couldn't say no!!

I will miss the old ground when the new stadium is built..... whatever they do NOTHING will replace the Kop and I pray that the atmosphere on the new Kop isn't lost.

Saw one of those new American owners being interviewed prior to the game, and he comes across as a thoroughly top bloke.

I know I always take the piss, but I reckon it's good times ahead for Liverpool.

2 questions from a complete non-football lover!

What is the "kop"

and do people sit in the boxes at the top of this pic, and if not why not would be cool up there with a glass floor

The end at Anfield that was to become the Kop, was originally known as the Oakfield Road Embankment or Walton Breck Bank. It was renamed the Spion Kop in 1906 after the battle of Spion Kop and later it became known as 'the Kop'. This was the hill in present day South Africa, where Boer guerrillas had inflicted a heavy defeat on the British army in 1900. Many of the men killed were from the North West so the name was especially poignant. Other grounds around the country also renamed some of their terraces after the Spion Kop, such as St Andrews in Birmingham and Hillsborough in Sheffield.

In the late 1920's the Kop was expanded and covered, so that in total it housed 28,000 fans, making it one of the largest terraces in the country. It was not however until 1964, that the Kop became famous across the world, thanks to a BBC Panorama programme. It showed the swaying masses of fans on the Kop, on the day that Liverpool clinched the League title. The images of those fans and the spontaneity of the outbreaks of singing that even included a Beatles song or two, lived long into the memory and is often shown on TV today. It was also during the 1960's that the Kop adopted Gerry and the Pacemakers' 'You'll Never Walk Alone' as its theme tune

Following the Hillsborough disaster in 1989 the Kops' capacity was severely reduced as safety at football grounds was made a number one priority. April 30th, 1994, saw the last game to be played in front of the terraced Kop, before it was re-developed with a new all seated stand.

Had that seat since 1994 when the Kop went all seated. Every season ticket holder on the Kop was sent a seating plan and it asked where you wanted to sit. Most people chose a seat from where they used to stand on the Kop, so all mates stayed together.

You'll probably get a season ticket OK when the new stadium is built.... only 3 more years

Suppose it's a way of spending capital culture money,
Would be better spent near Bootle docks IMO, or the old gardens heading towards Garston
