anything that makes an air gap between it and the other thing will provide insulation and 'work'

the question is - how long will it last?

i prefer the corrugated stuff myself, but that will work to an extent

I have used this on LPG pipes to protect them, you have to sheild and all if within 4" of exhaust as per regs on LPG.
Never had a problem, used it lots and it works very very well.

Used to use the Agriemach wrap stuff for insulating clutch cables on Mk2 Rs2000s and R5 GTT - seemed to prolong their life a lot as the heat used to dry out the internal lubricant on unwrapped ones - leading to a "sticky" spot .....and snap.

I've not got to worry about it snapping.....more it disappearing & it becoming near on impossible to change gear whilst racing round the ring!!!!
