Default Fiesta 04 Plate - 1.4 - Clutch System

Had a mate phone me up today & said when he got in his car this morning his clutch pedal went to the floor - he asked me what I reckonned was wrong - I said clutch cable had probably snapped......am I right or is it a hydaulic clutch??

pretty sure all modern fords use hydraulic clutches now mate!

If it is hydraulic, the master cylinder is fixed to the top of the pedal, check for fluid around the clutch pedal.
Check for leak/split pipe to gearbox.
Slave cylinder is in the gearbox, if that's leaking gearbox out.

Fluid resevoir is common to brakes (but brake side is slightly deeper) so he should have had a low level warning.

fords fix is a jubilee clip. also watch out for failing slave cylinders these cost 500notes to fix from fords.

There is a recall on Fiestas and Fusions at the moment. I got my letter this morning saying they need to put a clip on the clutch pedal assembly because (and I quote) "... possible for a push rod to disconnect from the clutch pedal which then results in the drive from the engine not disengaging the gearbox when the clutch pedal is depressed". Some people have apparently had their pedals fall off... How dramatic!
