Default Money - do we actually have it?

What with online banking, digital money transfers, plastic debit/credit cards etc... Do we actually *HAVE* money?

I rarely use cash (other than for small things, drinks, smokes, etc) and it seems that money these days is just digital numbers in banks computers, or printed numbers on statements, wage slips etc...

That is all

I never carry cash as if I buy something for 6 Pound I have 4 pound which I will waste. I also for some reason if I have cash on me will find a way of spending it on crap.

"I promise to pay the bearer upon demand the sum of"

So if you gave the bank a fiver, what would you expect back?

We looooong ran out of gold and silver to back our currency. Our current "wealth" is entirely debt based. However the US is even more fucked than us at the moment.

To be honest money is only a paper symbol for numbers anyway...so we could go all the way back to when it was swapping parsnips and donkeys and ask if anyone has ever had money

I have a swimming pool full of money, mostly £50 notes which I regularly swim in, just like Scrooge McDuck in Duck Tales.
It's good fun, but it hurts if you dive into the shallow end as it's full of coins there.
