i do

but i've got one of them that goes up to 500 lb/ft and is 4 foot long

seeing as i cannot put more than 300 lb/ft of torque on it before i am unable to get it to bend i think it's a bit of overkill, but it's great for head bolts

torque wrenches are fopr doing stuff up

you need a stronger/longer breaker bar

10 foot scafold pole on a tourque wernch and it snapped, i'm not suprised!!

next you'll be telling us you used a 3/8 or 1/4 inch drive

I think people get confused with Torque Wrench and Torque Multipliers.

Why not use the 1" drive breaker bar and socket set REME have ?
As said make sure it is not a left handed thread.

my old dad pissed off a trader at an airshow selling those "one-size-fits-all" sockets

they had bolts lined up in a lump of metal for you to tryit out on

dad tried a couple of different sizes and was quite impressed, and asked the bloke if he'd ever had any breakages

"you'll never break one of those mate!"

cracking noise proved otherwise!

ps anyone who's met me will know i do not share my fathers superhuman strength gene!
