Coilovers and Adjustable TCA's are on
Thanks to Norris Motorsport and JC Motorsport respectively for supplying em
and to Dingo for fitting them and educating me about having a better suspension set up
Special ordered them in black to match the hoses/lines/engine bay
this is exactly how the front Koni's and Ahmed springs came off the car - it's always felt a bit odd
The end result

Thanks I was initially reluctant to have the coilovers, as i liked the car standard height - but it was pretty dangerous like that flat out Karl said i needed to change them before it was set up again
Don't think they took any longer than the usual lead time Matt, as think they are built to order iirc (true for s2's anyway) from speaking to them at Autosport
They aren't painted, it's like a coating?? dunno it's proper name

Have said on my resto thread - GAZ recommended the s2 was fitted with a rear strut brace when using the coilovers
Philloy made me a bolt in one a while back - Mark at NMS will be welding the brackets in when the car goes up there

The second reason they were Special Order was that GAZ specced different springs more appropriate for road use for me, as I wouldn't compromise the ride for the next time it goes to the 'Ring or Le Mans

Knackered seized up Koni's with 2 not having any rebound and ahmed's lame springs over brand new shocks, springs and tca's with new bush's.
How is that a bad thing ?
Why is the ride going to be a lot worse ?
Bit confused on your thinking but then it is monday morning lol
Could do with having some adjustment on the front to sort out a bit more castor to try and iron out some torque steer and really needs some adjustable rear arms so that the tracking and cambre of the back wheels can be set.

Although it's not a big power car and ain't gonna set any records - we also asked GAZ about what they would recommend on the s2 for Pod and track, as the springs aren't very expensive and would be pretty easy to change if needed. So we can try a few options with em

Well I'd of thought a quality suspension kit would be a hell of a lot better than koni's?
A friend of mine had Leda coilovers fitted to his S2, and the difference is night and day from his Koni's...albeit he has a lower poundage of spring for road use. You can go over speed bumps at a reasonable speed and you still have your teeth, with koni's when you hit a pot hole it was a "oh sh!t wonder if thats done any damage?", bump steer is gone...feels allot more stable/sure footed on the road, definatetly allot more stable at speed...theirs loads of reasons why they are better but it's been so long since ive been in the car I cant quite remember to explain all reasons why! but definately NOT worse, 100% better!

There is nothing wrong with Koni's, they are pretty good quality. The biggest problem with the suspension kits is the spring rate - they are speced FAR too hard. The car crashes and has no absorbtion on the road. You don't need stiff springs for a car to handle well. I have tried LOADS of different combo's recently, as i'm really fussy about ride.
At the moment i'm on koni's on full soft, and standard mark 3 xr3i springs on the rear, with uprated cobra on the front. The car drives so well now, handling is spot on and the ride is pretty unbeleivable for an old escort.
Stiff springs and soft dampers give a totally horrendous ride. Handling is mostly down to the geometry IMO, being able to adjust the rear toe has made huge difference to mine as well.

Dingly,
Can you please explain to me how having new dampers, springs and adjustable TCAs will allow you to adjust the castor ?
The castor can only be adjusted with eccentic top mounts or shimming the ARB to set the top of the damper back or push the bottom of the damper forward (respectively) .
Adjustable TCAs allow the camber to be changed .
I agree with Rick about correct pundage springs and also think it is crazy that you are comparing fucked dampers with brand new ones, as that is missing the point completely - it's not fitting like for like .

Am sure LeeR21 will remember the odd noises parking it up outside the hotel
ps think the Avons it's currently sporting are more of a concern like driving in the wet, even when it's dry Lol
