Civic Type R or FRS??
What would be the better buy - taking into consideration...
Reliablity
Depressiation
Service and maintenacne costs
Resale appeal-ease
And whic is most likely to be stolen.
Personally I think i am going to go for the Civic, but wouldn't mind some views.

Both pretty reliable from what I've heard.
FRS will hold it's money back, not sure on service/maintance costs, but I don't think they're be muhc in it..
Resale - You'll sell the Civic, easier than the FRS I'd imagine, as they're cheaper, and the FRS is more likely to be stolen IMO.

...............
Not had any problems with my FRS, even when it was used for the daily commute. Servicing costs little more than any other focus, obviously tires cost more and brake parts are expensive if bought from Fords, trick is to use aftermarket. It costs less and works better. There are alot of FRS for sale in comparison to potential buyers, best to buy the ones with the lowest mileage/owners and keep them in tip/top condition. There will always be a buyer for a low mileage RS. I dont hear of many FRS stolen but when they are its seems to be by car-jacking or breaking in and stealing keys.

trouble for me is..
Need to use it everyday so do around 10k miles a year
Will be parked on the street until I get the drive done
Plus the misses is really not keen on anyone trying to get into the house for keys and so want the least likely to attract jackers etc
I think the Civic would be less criminal to stick the mileage on and leave on the street, and hopefully less likely to attract the scum.
Pitty when in life you can't buy what you want without having to consider the likelyhood of getting done over for it.

Matts depends where u live pal???
If you live in manchester civic type r is the no1 stolen car at the moment check the stolen car section on civic type r owners club!!!!!!!!!!!!
I Will personally say i prefer the focus rs/st
But to be honest the type r is practically maintenace free apart from the safe side oil change every 3k
I have 3 mates who own them amazin cars mate never break down and thats gospel 8000rpm everyday of there life period fookin crackin cars
If not happy go with no torque go for the rotrex supercharger conversion completly transform
starts at a 320-350bhp without front mount and 450-500 with with no internal mods yes 100-150% increase on factory
12SEC QUARTER MILE
sorry but my mates is superchareged with 10k on since coversion and not a sniff of trouble
Driven very hard indeed thought of 1 of these myself but somethin always draws me to cossies?????????????

I was thinking the same last year. And ended up opting for a civic type R for insurance/running cost reasons. Don't feel as if the FRS would be any better. Other than having a LSD, but lets face it you can put one in CTR for £500.
In the end I wish I had gone for something rear wheel drive or 4wd though. Ah well, theres still time yet.

FRS, but I would say that. It's quicker than the Civic, but more attractive to scumbags IMO.
And it's crap on fuel, mine does 20-22mpg all round. Servicing is very cheap at Ford though.
Just my 2p.

Thought that was weird as CTR is group 17 and FRS is 16.

I wouldn't say theres much in it acceleration between the 2 to be honest.
The FRS does have a better feel to the steering, but seating position is worse if your taller.
There both alright FWD cars. But being FWD you do feel kind of limited.
