A situation......
...IF you was into mountain climbing and you got stranded with no food on a mountain side...BUT had word via a Mountain goat which brought you a hand written note saying...help will come in 7 days....before scarpering rather quickly away.......would you,to stay alive,eat yourself..i dont mean anything that would kill you i mean a finger or two maybe a big toe?

I expect this question is actualy impossible to answer with any degree of accuracy Phil. Hard call... 
However, would you eat one of your dogs if it was with you Phil?
I sat and thought long and hard about this recently when i saw a similar thing on a film, and i dont think i would, i think i would choose that we both die together.

I dont think a finger (Or two) would fill you up enough to be worth the pain 
If you cut anything big enough off thats worth eating, you'd probably die from the wound. (Or at least not be able to reproduce )

According to one of those survival blokes the other night on TV, you can survive 3 weeks without food but only a few days without water? 7 days would be a piece of piss.
With regards to your original question IF I was a mountain climber I would probably have enough matches on me to melt ice to drink.
I'd definitely try tracking the goat though! I reckon the world is ready for a new Skippy/Flipper/Lassie style TV programme with a homing goat. Make a fortune on the merchandising alone.
And it was I that banned that user, 4 posts and each one pointless and blatently made by a current/previous user of the site written purely to antagonise.

If i was in that situation i wouldn't sit it out for 7 days. Your on a mountainside so the chances of hypothermia would be massive so chopping off a finger or toe wouldnt be an issue they'd just fall off in time.
I would take the risk and get off the mountain myself or at least try. Fuck sitting there waiting to die or on the off chance you may get rescued.
