I don't reckon you would cut anything of if you believed that goat.
The pain in cutting something off would be savage, you certainly wouldn't feel like eating. Plus, a toe is not going to fill you up, maybe an hour, then you would think, "bugger my stump hurts, and my belly is hungry again"
Plus, who's to say someone didn't stick that note on that goat years ago for the crack, could have been fooling poor stranded buggers for year.
I would personally concerntrate on keeping hydrated. If i was to eat anything i would thing dirty thoughts so there was more to eat
