Couple of quick questions for those who've upgraded to a full front
mounted intercooler on their series 1.

What cooler are you using?

what fan do you use?

A mate is thinking of buying one for his mk3 project, and seein as you lot are a font
of usefull knowledge thought i'd see if anyone has any recommendations, or have good/bad experiences when using one!

i have a grs front mount with twin spal fans only problem i had at the start is that i had to cut a chunk of my caer away to fit it and it completely blocks the radiator so it was always running hot so i replaced the thermostat with an 85 degree one and it seems fine now and the act temps are well low

the standard grill still fits

Oli uses 2 2wd coolers welded together due to the massive boost pressure drops accross the GRS cooler.

i had a grs with the fan that grs supply with it. had to chave about 3 mm out of the slam panel for the fan to go in properly, but never ever had any high temp problems on a standard cooling system.

only issue for me was that the top hose to the charge carrier needed to be about 3" longer than the one I already had.

pro alloy s2 intercooler with s2 boost hoses.

had to use a s2 rad but i already had one due to an s2 turbo.

work well for me,

had 2 smallish fans but had overheating issuses i wrote the car off before i had a chance to fix it.
