right click on the windows task bar and go to task manager, see whats using all your CPU and memory. that'll be what is making the hard disks go crackers ! post the processes up here and we'll see if we can help you out as to what they are.

Have you got any bittorrent running? i know ABC bittorrent client thrashes the fuck out of your disks and CPU, i switched to using uTorrent and its loads better

If you go into processes you can see whats using your memory up. it's in the right hand column. if you click on the top of the column you can sort them high > low.

you'll see something like

firefox.exe <username> 00 32,765KB

the figure at the end is how much memory it is using, the ones with higher numbers are the important ones and are most likely to be the ones that are thrashing the tits off your disk

Remember to show us a screenshot of it to save you typing it all out, when its on screen hit the print screen key, open up windows paint, press edit at the top then paste, save the pic and post it up

Have you ran a spyware scan and how much free hard drive space have you got on your machine, if you run out of hard drive space the Page File and the Master File Table get really fragmented which can slow your machine down and will need a good defrag.

You may need to press alt + prt screen together, then paste it into MS Paint and it should capture everything

Short of goggling every process you cant tell 100% but just from scanning through it i cant see anything that seems fishy, plus 32 processes is pretty normal anyway, i wouldn't worry
