The owner seemed a genuine enough bloke when I spoke to him at Performance Ford day at Crail, im sure the car ran around 11 second qtrs.

i knew i had seen this car before and a quick look throw a couple of mags found what i was looking for these a little about this car on page 56 of the feb fast ford mag

its owned by derek from ace performance cars of hastings but has not owned it long its 802bhp on its last dyno run got a r&D 6 speed box and quaife thick wall diff housings


its got a small pic of the engine bay and looks to my untrained non ford eye like a swedish type plenum with a 4 injector setup if there is another 4 i dont know where the fuck they are

It certainely never went like an 800 horse motor! Heard alot of rumours aswell that it is indeed a bullshit figure.

How does a 800bhp Cossie go then mate & how many miles did you do at that Power.
Why do you youngsters just Knock this engine when you have no idea what its producing, the only thing you know is thats its made 802bhp on a Dyno run. Why dont someone contact this company & ask if its road legal & would they like to attend the qualifiers for totb, then if it dont perform & only then can you say these things.
You can see from this thread why I would never post my figures on this Forum for lots of vultures who basically aint got a clue to pull it apart.

I spoke to the guy twice the day it ran at Crail..


it was a fast cossie but was no where near 800 bhp as the car it ran against in the final was another escort with 600 bhp and the ace performance car couldnt get near it.

Again saw the escort on Knockhill and it didnt stand out at all...

Think the 802 fig if it was ever produced was a flash fig on a dyno.

It runs 550 tops in the car judging by the way it went at Crail and 400 on the day at KH.

It had massive lag looked horrible to drive.

would love to see a scottish car producing 802 bhp but when questioned about the car the owner knew nothing about it even tho he claimed he built and maped it himself.

i know derek from ACE performance, had some dealings with him and he is the biggest fookin knob you will meet. he did build the 3 door as it started off as an xr4. it is a crock of shit. he reckons he mapped it himself, but his rolling road is only rated to 400bhp, he told me on a previous visit. he bought the escort exactly as it is now, he's never layed a finger on it. prob for the best! pretty sure i read somewhere the escos was 480bhp. he is just so unbelievably full of shit. he rolling roaded my 16v astra gte with a full magnex and he set the pulleys on my kent cams, 190bhp anyone! bullshit!!!!!!

Why do you always come across like a right twat?
Who's to say he has to have had an 800bhp motor to guesstimate how they go? If a car looks slow then its fair to assume its not 800bhp i reckon! If a car is flippin quick and pissing on everything else including benchmark cars you know then you could guesstimate hp IMO!

In fairness to the owner the only thing he didnt know was the duty cycle of the injectors, which did seem odd given that he had mapped the car.
It was mapped at Steve Simpson's on his rolling road on GEMS if I recall however he did talk about changing the management to MOTEC.

I was lead to believe from conversation with him that he'd spec'd and build the engine turbo etc. He was at ease talking about various aspects of the build. Clearly a knowledgeable bloke.

Granted his car was more than 1/2 second slower than Andy Gallacher's up the qtr mile, which would suggest his 800bhp rather optamistic, that is of course assuming he was running full boost.

saw this car at crail and knockhill.

hes only got 4 850cc injectors not 8.
the guy seems brand new to talk to.

was in andy gallachers escort cossie at crail in oct and he raced this car.andy blew him away 4 times on the trot with 620 i think.

yes i forgot i saw it 2 weeks later at knockhill and the guy said hi as we passed.didnt say what boost etc he was running but didnt report any problems.

was looking forward to seeing it go at kh as up the 1/4 for 800hp it was a dissapointment.

again didnt look fast at all.staurt white was there in his escort with 550hp 8 injectors t4 etc i believe and was by far and away the fastest thing on track.fair enough hes handy behind the wheel but even on the straight out the hairpin it didnt look fast a white 400hp escort was only slightly and i mean slightly slower

a genuine 800bhp will easily run high 9,s at around 150mph terminal...just not with an R+D box tho

there you go rod..the times are above this lad has seen it go and common sense obviously told him it wasnt 800bhp that aside the transmission spec is a joke for an 800bhp car..but very good for a 400bhp track car

Just browsing this post, can't really comment on the performance figures due to my lack on knowledge in the area - however on the more simple side of tuning, surely mounting the air filter there will cause majour heat soak?

derek @ ace performance did my cossie conversion on my bmw and if he told me it was raining i would look out the window to check before believing him. he talks a good game but his standard of work doesnt back it up.the problems i had range from dodgy wiring causing smoke to fill the cabin down to an alleged rebuilt t34 from his own car then fitted to mine having new seals fitted every 3 months(3 times in total) due to the casing and shaft being fcuked.he took me around knockhill in his alleged 550bhp 3 door and i wasnt that impressed by the performance or the fact it was chucking fluids out everywhere. use him at your own risk. i know i wont again.

i also notice he has fitted his self powdercoated multi coloured rocker cover to his 3 door that he tried to sell to me.it looks like it was done by a blind man the quality is so poor. he also powder coates alloy wheels....
