Zetec cambelt.... Hard/easy to do ??????

Default Zetec cambelt.... Hard/easy to do ??????

as above...

my dads got an escort zetec and just done 92k. He is giving it to me in the next two weeks hopefully. Need to do the cambelt, is it an easyjob.. any special tools needed? obviously the timing needs to be spot on.

1.6 btw if it makes any difference

having a flat bit of bar to lock the cams is handy, take off the rocker cover and look at the coil end and you'll see. not to hard of a job though.

its not to bad, id recommend changing the water pump as well, ive done a few due to the cam belt going- is it a zetec or zetec se?

i thought the belt change interval on theae was 80k??

tis bit of a pain in the ass there aint much room.

the tensioners will prolly be cracked so get a full cam belt kit.

ive done a few tho

your best off using a dial test indicator to find TDC instead of going off the crank pulley

you then need a bit of 5mm thick bar to slot into the camshafts to hold them in place

the tension of the belt, you should be able to rotate it about 45degrees in either direction, so 90 in total, without really forcing it round.
