Default Locking keys

I want to get new rubber put on all four wheels of my car. Its a 04 Fiesta Zetec but I never got a locking key for the wheelnuts from the previous owner

I have spotted some on flea-bay would any key work with my nuts lol or are the unique to every set?

They look like this (pic from e-bay)

Any help/ advice is appreciated.

Go to Mr ford, he will take hold of your nuts and extract some money from you, like he normally does, except this time he might give you a shiney new key for your trouble.

I had bolts like that on my Beemer, and no keys. Same too on one of my Pugs.

On both cars, I beat an old 18mm (iirc) socket over the end and undid them that way.

You can also get locking wheel nut removal tools from Halfords and many motor factors.

Great to know how easy it is to steal our expensive wheels

You can probably just use a key from another set of them mate.

They look like what i had on mine, soon changed them when i realised that the key for the set my mate bought was exactly the same.

I found the same with my Halfrauds ones, hence using the bigger socket, and a BIGGER hammer!

nope - if they are McGard nuts, which they look like, they have a (relatively) wide range of key patterns. When you buy them you get a card with a keycode on which allows you to go to Ford and order a new key of the right pattern to fit.
They are about as good as locking bolts get. Not quite as good as the vauxhall variants unfortunately, that come with a loose sleeve round the outside that spins when you try and grip them..

Mercedes use them type too and iirc there are about 38 -42 different combinations. (we had a master set at my old workplace)

The mercedes ones are quite interesting and easy to get past once you know how

your best bet is to go to ford and get them to remove them and fit a new set from ebay, as the ones ford sell over-the-counter aren't the same as those pictured above and aren't much good.
