doing stuff for the nippers first birthday, culminating in today's end of the gurdwara dissapointment when 55% of thepeole who were supposed ot turn up didn't
thursday:
finished work in a bit of a hurry and went to get stuff for the food prep and set up
nothing too bad but a little on the complicated side because i didn't know what we were supposed to get
my cousins father in law sorted things out so big up to him
friday:
everyone went to the temple at 7 and i went to work, on my day off
, had a row with the mrs, and arranged stuff, failed the mot and
got home later than i should of (past 10)
the old man had to stay there and he came home sat moring at 4am when his replacement arrived
saturday:
back to the temple at silly o'clock and did stuff
then went to work from 8 till 3, then back to the temple till 11.30, along the way i was blamed for everything that went wrong or didn't turn up or had been missed in the original list of stuff to get and things to do and money to be spent
sunday:
a 2.30 start meant not enough time to sleep but a 4am finished sort of made up for it
then back for 8 in the morning after things got done, wandered about for a bit, did a few things, spent more money than i had in my account, bailed the old man out for paying the peeps who needed to be paid before things could finish, generally made myself usefull, then stood there serving food in my white shirt with everyone saying "you'll never get away without staining that" but i did
and then made a few trips to and from home to cart away the food we'd made for the 90 people who didn't turn up who were supposed to (and also the £150 worth of sweets we'd bought that were surplus to requirments too
end of day costs compared to getting someone else to arrange it all were only £20 more, but the endless running around means i don't think i'll be partaking in this sort of thing again, 4 days worth of hassle for the whole family, not to mention the cost of being there 24/7 and the lack of sleep
it was a happy occasion and i'm glad i did it the way i did and the way that everyone chipped in to help out and lend a hand throughout the proccedings, but it's too much when you can get soemone else to do it for you, especially if you have a young child to look after and one of you has to be looking after him at all times
overall? i've spent £600 that i dind't need to spend (and, quite frankly can't afford to spend) but it was worth it in the end
