Default more td escort problems ...

Fooking thing, all i ask is 300 miles trouble free a week

Was spot on going to work, set off home and feels like no boost or in some sort of limp mode.

Really gutless, turbo is still in ok condition by sound of it and cant hear a pipe popped off but will check at weekend but it still drives perfect and idles spot on too, wouldnt be like that if pipe off would it?

Fuel filter is of unknown age/condition so will change
air filter same as above

any other ideas?? how is fuelling on boost controlled? vac pipe and compensating valve? if so maybe thats stuck or pipe damaged where is it on pump if it has one.

its basically just like a 1.6 -1.8 diesel at mo

I had the same problems you describe on my TD escort, no garage could sort it after it costing me what the car was worth in fixes........i sold mine on !!

A blocked cat was suggested as the likely cause but in my case it wasn't !!

cant see it being that as it was perfect when went to work and fooked after, plug whistles nicely through exhaust same as before, i was hoping its filter but cant see it so thought maybe boost compensating valve which i assume the pump will have...

Mine just suddenly went when pulling out of a junction, alot of stuff was changed electrical and mechanical but it wouldn't play ball. Even took it to diesel specialist who made a marginal improvement but not enough to use it...........I hope you get it sorted !!
