when the bombers came out there was 1 company making a twin disc set up for them
literally nobody makes brackets for them as they are different spacing to calipers nowadays
ive just made a bracket to suit my xtr calipers
Thats because they were a fuck up by marzocchi. The actual spacing is for the old Formula brakes, who were a new company at the time. Hence why i said they arent International Standard.

That is one amazing video. Possibly the site of the 98 Worlds in Canada?

Much prefer the XC stuff myself but some flowing single track is awesome. Oh and uphill sorts the men from the boys! :P

I ride the Commonwealth Games circuit quite regularly, will try and get some pics next time with the Kangaroos

i always wanted to get a double hope brake when i had the old z1's, think they would have stopped an f1 car at 100mph

its not the riding in the vid that impressed me ( not saying its crap or anything! )

but the effort, time and skill in building the course in the 1st place

its hard to explain it but when you jump you gotta let the lip of the jump do the work, not throw your bars up in the air thinking that thats whats gonna make you fly. also you gotta keep your body from going rigid so when you land you dont land rigid as this will make make it a bumpy landing.

cheers benni, i saw the funny side once id got my breath back, but it was those few seconds of panic when youre fighting for breath combined with that coont laughing so hard snot was coming out of his nose that annoyed me

Jack, so what youre saying is its basically the speed that carries you through the jump, relax yourself for the landing and do very little with your arms/body/bike..........just keep the nose up

i might give it a try.....off a kerb or summat to get my confidence back

yes mate try it on a few kirbs etc... its basically just like a bunny hop imo. just pump into it and dont throw yer bars in the air or else you'll flip

that sounds like the technique i used when i faceplanted then

i still find it hard to get used to suspension forks, ive ridden bikes with rigid forks for so long, must just need more practice, or some stiffer forks

best way to do it, is to make sure youve got enough speed for the gap. There are 2 ways you can jump....

1. Speed jump: This is what BMX'ers do in track racing, keep it low and quick, and let the shape of the jump carry you over. BUT, make sure your ready to shift your weigh forward as you come to land, to get the nose down into the roll-out.

2. Style jump: Best looking and most dangerous. Basically, its not all about speed, more air time to cover the gap. Hit the upside of the jump slightly slower than the speed jump, then, if the jump has been built properly, it should have a "kicker" lip on the end of it. When the front wheel hits it, pull slightly on the bars to get the front high, then as the rear wheel follows, you will feel it hit the "kicker". At this point, shift your weight forwards, and make sure you dont face plant!!!

good thing about shocks is, you can use them to give you a sprung weight as you leave the lip of the jump. I can jump full sus bikes better than i can rigid bikes for some reason. i was in MBUK once, at a local spot of mine in bracknell. Will see if i can find some pics.
