Memory upgrade
i've fitted more ram to my pc but how do i reconfigure windows to ready the new memory from the previously empty slot?

you shouldnt need to do anything,it should find it at bootup.

hmmmmm i don't reckon it has as when you click system properties on control pannel it just says 256mb of ram when it should be 256mb x2.
i've gone into bios and that only says 256 aswell.

It must not be seated properly, take it out and re-clip it back into the slot. Either that or it is a duff stick. BIOS should see it for sure
Try booting up with just the new stick in, that'll tell you if it's duff or not

I just slapped an extra 512MB in mine and then turned the machine on and it now see's 1024MB of RAM.

yeah, i thought i'd double check that and it hadn't clicked into place properly,
shes running a bit faster now though!
