Flight stopovers/changes - Do I need a visa?

I am booking some flights for a business trip, and I may have the option of a 7 hour changeover in Dubai. Having never been to Dubai before I would love to get out of the airport and see a bit of the place, but do you need a Visa to leave the airport? I'm guessing you do

I've done similar before but only in Europe so I strolled straight out

I don't believe you do if its a G7 member nation which the UAE is. Easiest thing is ask the guys when you get there.

I go see the folks regularly out there and have never needed apply for a visa, just get a stamp done while I'm there for 30 days.
