Default Drilling hole in stainless steel exhaust?

Hi again was wondering if anyone new what sort of drill bit is required to well drill a hole in my s/s exhaust as no one around birmginham seems to be able to do it. I need to get this closed loop hooked up soon and start saving cash on petrol or just drive more Alex.

A normal HSS drill bit for the pilot hole, which you could take up to 11/12mm if you have a bit big enough??

We use a Step-Drill-bit to open the hole out, but a file could be used if you are patient!! Or perhaps a Dremel.

It's not that hard!!

You should be ok with a normal HSS drill bit as long as you drill at a slowish speed and don't burn the tip out, if it squeels your going too fast lol

A bit of pressure usually works well with stainless too.

Just wear goggles for when you don't push straight and snap the bit

Default Hole drilling !

I kind of figured that a normal hss drill bit would work with a step bit after just wanted to check as exhausts arent cheap lol and i have nothing against the local companies ie. Mr Hadland! but i like doing the work myself well as long as its not another heater matrix
So yet again fellas thanks for the advice hole will be done tomorrow and boss welded in for closed loop too Alex.

i used a normal hss first for the pilot
was scrap after that and then im sure is used a 13mm hss drill bit

went blunt very wuick but maganed to do it

stainless is fairly tuff
and sod filling it, the file would go smooth before yo u got the size ole you want
