Default PS2 incar problem

I tried fitted my ps2 into the car today, I have an Alpine flip out screen, power inverter and assumed it was a straight forward job. Well it is until i turned the ps2 on, the picture flickers really really badly.

Now i assumed it was because the power inverter was close by but i moved it all around etc thinking it was causing an interference but the picture stayed the same

So apart from insulating the wires what could i do?
