Default Which head unit?

its time to upgrade the headunit in the cossie as the escort doesnt have a stereo, ive got a sony at the moment, i bought it to replace my pioneer, and tbh ive never been as keen on it as the pioneer, think the sound quality is nowhere near the same.

I dont really want to spend more than £150( im on a tight budget ), and its gotta have HPF, LPF, at least 2 RCA's, and user control graphic equalisers, not into that fixed stuff,

itll be running a decent amp and sub, and some components, so sound quality is a must

i dont know much about alpine head units but ive heard theyre supposed to sound as good as pioneers? not into jvc really either

ps i know im fussy

any recommendations? been looking on ebay but not really sure about head units that are decent at the moment

thanks in advance

nope, my head unit has a hpf and a lpf

some of the pioneers do as well, most sony ones tend to, if you check the spec of them

I used to work in car audio and never came across one with that feature, odd..

Either way its pointless I mean who runs anything from the h/u these days :P

You should get a nice enough alpine for that money, mine was £300 and worth every single penny.

i dont run anything from headunit, but i can adjust the hpf and lpf without having to climb in the boot and get the screwdriver to change them, same as i can adjust the sub level from in the car without messing with the settings off the amp..... though if you saw how many different things there is on the amp to change you would understand why i want one with it built into head unit

tbh ive been looking at loads of headunits and nearly all of them have them built in these days

the only thing with alpines is they all look the same just different colours

Nice Amp

I got the same Sony as you and dont really think much of its sound quality, I also have a Kenwood which has good sound quality but wont read disks now, and I currently have an old Alpine Cassete/Changer in my Sierra which is ok but not up to much now.
I would personally go for another Alpine unit to replace it as I think they have really good sound quality and arent full of useless shit that you dont need, they serve a purpose and they do it well.

its not bad quality just nowhere near as good as pioneer and from the reviews ive read it seems alpine and pioneer are the best sound quality head units around for not too bad prices.

I'm sorry but if your going to mate a £150 h/u with an audison you need a kick in the gonads just kidding mate.

Alpine and Pioneer are the best for sq in your price range without a doubt, anything better and you looking at the likes of becker a nakamichi (sp).

Surely the audison has hpf and lpf filter, afterall it is a top end amp

i know im being tight, cant afford to go splashin £300 on a head unit anymore

might have to wait til theres some sales on to get a decent one, the amp is awesome, just cant be doing with having to get in the boot to faff about with the filters!!!!

and yeah its got the hpf and lpf filters, along with every other bloody knob you would need on an amp

tbh those becker ones are dead bloody expensive, but look sh!t!!!!!!
