your saying if u bought a car from guernsey for 4000 u would pay extra £600 for tax when the car was originally in this country then went to geunsey and come back

If the car was originally supplied and registered and had tax paid on it at purchase on the mainland, then shipped and re registered in Guernsey and the tax was NOT REFUNDED, then no tax is due.
If the car was supplied direct to Guernsey then tax will be due when it is registered on the mainland.

Customs are very used to assessing the value of imported goods, they will certainly be able to tell the difference between a Cossie and a GL, and VERY familiar with the ways people try and avoid paying any tax due.
Tax will be due wether its used or new, if it didn't have U.K tax paid on it when new.
