Default UH OH... MOt time for the drift car... will it pass?

Just got a few quick questions regarding mot law etc...

car is a G reg 2.0l sierra pile

1. first off, the car has no rear seats or seat belts fitted, im sure if both are removed its ok?

2. after i replace the headlights and indicators again, the beam aim will be out, can the headlight be massively adjusted? (with mallet if needed)

3. the front bumper is held on with tywraps, it pushes into the rubber mountings and is then tywrapped on the corners and round the middle, wont fall off etc

4. the rear swing arm is rusted through where the spring was, it got blocked by a big stone and shit then filled with water, but as we have now fitted coilovers, its no longer a load bearing point as the spring is removed

5. its got a welded diff, so obviously when they move the car it will be evident

any advice on the following would be top

cheers lol

Hi mate im just about to go down the mot centre with my E30 that is being slowly turned into a drift car...Polycarb windows, no interior very noisey and has a mix of tyres...Im worried just like you...

£50 is alot to spend if it fails as not many places do free retests unless you let them do the work...

1. Fine
2.Will nedd to correct to pass, they might do it as it is a five min job
3.That might be a prob, as it could fall off....
4.Fail as it is within 30cm of a sus point
5.Cant see it being a problem, but then again its down to the tester

1, 3, 5, is 101% fine as long as secure and safe, no idea about the other two.

Its not illegal anyhow, but a welded diff could just be a really tight plated race diff for all anyone knew.

you would have been much better off getting a 90 spec car but you can't get everything right and besides, i think you've got enough work put into that ones with its "respray"

depends on the tester, my guy won't test it without a full complement of seats, but if you've got some sort of stripped out theme goin they may let it pass

the front end has masive adjustability in the light itself before you even start to change the pointyness of the beam, if he's going to charge you a few quid to get it set up then let him, just make sure the lgiths and indicators and grille and bonnet lines all line up (there are only 3 bolts/screws/nuts to adjust and it takes a few minutes)

if it doesn't have any sharp edges on it it shouldn't be a problem, they won't wiggle it to see if it's going to fall off unless it's blindingly obvius its only held on with a bit of string

fail, cahnge it

won't be a problem, the test is on a ramp and teh cars got an lsd fitted

Mine did, it failed first time on fog light inop,Fitted newun as i couldnt be arsed to sort the wiring for old one.... no washers(had no water in res) and a tyre which was on the wrong way round(rotational) they swopped that round for me....First Mot on the old girl for 4 yrs...She has been stood since i rescued her from the salvage yard.....Strated first time, will do service later on, just needs to be VIC'd now and its all go for the drift...

Should have seen the 60 something mot tester climbing in and out the bucket seat.....

its not been mot's yet, still got a few bits to sort out before it goes in.,

another thing,

the windscreen washers - the pump is fucked from when i last twatted the front end, so i have wired in a manual switch for the job, but its just loosly hanging on the top of the dash lol, is that ok??

i also sorted out the problem of the fucked wheel bearing....

the erm, wheel nuts were only just on there

so i done em up tight and the nasty noise has gone.... after i spent £45 on bits to sort the cunt

well when it started making a noise i had just got on the motorway at bath (j18 M4) and i live in swindon (j16 M4) i stopped to have a look on the hard shoulder, and there is no wheel brace in the car, but i did have my little impact gun and i did have a go on the wheel nuts....

but it done nothing and was still making a horrid rumbling noise

i drove all the way home at about 40mph on the inside lane getting flashed at by lorrys lol as i was in desperate need of a shit...

was only about 30 miles lol

FFS that is a little nasty there Dan and i was bothered about mine.....

Stav, most scrappys only break un-repairable motors but salvage yards sell them whole and she was only a cat-d write off, front bumper had a whole where the bloke was pissing about, pulled the hose out the servo and tapped a fiesta up the arse with the mahhhoooosive tow eyes. Insurance said yup repair it with non gen parts he said no it is a bmw i will not have non gen so they wrote it off.

So i got a 325is on a 1989 with nothing wrong bar the front bumper for £500....

Ow yeah just got my letter through confirming my VIC appointment...Looks like i ahve got to have Thursday off aswell.....Had all this week off and now i have to tell them i wont be in thursday...lol na bother i hate the company anyway.......

get some polys in there but make sure you get new washers to go with them as well as new nuts and sleaves, you'll never believe you had such shit handling if you've not dome them on a everyday motor

even the cheap polys are better than nothing, and if you want to drift it all the time, this is one thing you really MUST do
