UK spec (ie 200bhp) Impreza/Legacy turbo tuning?
I really REALLY dont want to join Scoobynet, so hope someone might know here.
I have a 1991 Legacy Turbo now, and exhaust and filter are obvious, as is a front mounter etc, all of which i have so thats no problem/money.
But what about upping the boost and fueling?
Can you up the boost without a chip? If so, how far?
Do i need an uprated fuel pump or anything like that when you up the boost?
1bar+ is soo needed

Steve,
It is not recommended even to fit a FULL exhaust on these without a remap, UNLESS you don't plan to rag the shit out of it. However, knowing you as I do, that goes without saying .
The reason being that the multitude of cats that these run give a specific amount of back pressue, that then gives a specific boost curve that the standard ECU is mapped to. Removing all these, and the increase in airflow seems to be more than the standard map can cope with, even though it is MAF sensor based, and so they run lean and go pop. This is actually where Scooby's get their reputation for having "chocolate" engines and if set up right, they are no problem. Also for flat out / track use, one of the cylinders (No.3 from memory) also suffers excess heat (I think from it's location to the turbo) and can cause issues as well.
You might get away with it, but I would check the a/f to be sure. Also, like all MAF based cars, don't over-oil the filter or it will fuck up the MAF sensor.

get Powerstation to sponsor the car....you could have big stickers down the side,i'm sure they will love the extra publicity
and in return they can remap it for you

LOL@Gareth I think not
Mike- The exhaust would be kinda downpipe on by looks of, so "may" not be a problem, i dunno.
Gonna have the shit ragged out of it tho, as you well know
Sounds like a need a chip then.
Martin- Something tells my PS wouldnt be all that interested in sponsoring a Legacy Turbo, esp as they famous round here for the weapon of choice of the local criminals, and regularly see Legacy Turbo Estates tearing down the road with a stolen cashpoint machine in the back
Its already been nicknamed "The Jonno-mobile" (locals will get that )

Avoid the Superchips, as I have known of two that have gone pop soon after.... Is always best to get set up specifically to suit individual cars and in fact, I would say essential on the early Scoobies.
