My mates got an RS and i had an ST.
Tough choice but i'd have to choose the RS as it's more raw, the ST is great and refined but i just love my mates RS (That doesn't sound right.? )

my mates got an st with a few mods.exhaust, cooler chip etc and that sounds amazing much much better imo than any focus rs.that 5 cylinder turbo noise alone sells it for me
he also had a focus rs before with same mods basically and im sure he prefers the ST

RS all day everyday looks so much better it looks much more agressive and sporty, has better spec on it ie brembos, sparco, quafie, oz etc etc, has a legendry RS badge so you now it will keep its value just look how bad the ST170 dropped in money granted the new ST is miles better then the old ST but still the RS is just a better package all round
all imo
all imo

Ive driven both too, and its defo the RS for me! The handling is SO much better, and the brakes make the ST look very limp wristed! Its like comparing an S1 to a mk4 3i..... One is a lot more refined...

From the way my mates one went up basra last night, i'd have to agree again and say RS anyday. So comfortable and so chuckable. Fuck knows what they feel like when they're tuned up.

its the 4year thing that might be putting me off slightly and i think the interior (dash) could be improved upon so much...they are the ONLY bad points i have of them...
looking to keep the car for a number of years so will be modified in one way or another...
so in terms of tunability, ST or RS? i know the ST has just come out but im sure our Volvo friends wouldnt mind helping us out LOL
im not sure but i THINK im leaning more towards the RS...
what are the things to look out for with both cars? whats the maintanence like? bearing in mind im a mechanic any way so will do everything myself

My sister has the new ST - its been blue finned too and is an absloute animal!
Running costs of the car are HIGH. very high.
In fact they are thinking of downsizing back to a ST170 which they had previously.
I been lucky enough to drive them both. ST170 is much mroe of a drivers car although is slower.
The new ST is a comfy powerful car but doesnt have the same "feel" to it as older focus models.
So they are selling there new ST - getting a low millage ST170 on a 04 plate and spenidng the cash they make on it on a very nice holiday!

The RS is more RAW than the ST, and a bit quicker, more exclusive, handles better on track, and wont depreciate as fast as it accelerates...
The ST is very refined and accelerates/handles better on bumpy roads, and its more comfortable....if i needed a runabout car, the ST would be it
But there are tooooo many ST's around RS all the way

gotta be the RS
better looking, less depreciation, limited edition and the all important RS badge
not saying that the ST isnt an awesome car
have yet to go in an ST, and i want to hear what this engine sounds like, apparently it sounds
thinking about chucking in the saff for an RS later on this year. as my car has now become a daily driver
