Default Saph buying questions

Would you be expecting to see a full rebuild on a car having done 100k miles or might it still have plenty of life left in it if its just stage 1?

Also whats more important to see a bottom end or top end rebuild if not a full one?

Also would a 100k mile engine without a rebuild be unsuitable for a gunship conversion?

(I appreciate all engines are different and lots of factors affect its lifespan but just talking about average experiences)

Cheers

Jimbo,

Tricky one.........as it all depends on how well the prevoius owners have driven & maitained the engine.

I bought a 93/K 4x4 Saph a year ago with 138 K miles, it was a stage 1 + Interpro conversion on light green injectors.

After a couple on months I got it converted to NMS Gunship (full live map by Karl) and now the car has done 146 K miles it is still going strong - amazing performance actually

Uses a bit of oil, but no more than most 80 K to 100 K mile engines.

So, I'm saying if you buy a good'n you wont regret it

Thats good to know. I guess its down to the individual then but sounds like there are strong 100k+ cars out there.

there are,,,,,, but most are on 10k rebuild engines

its a gamble and the MAIN one is will you notice the engines on its way out and refresh before its bolloxd

and tbh,,,, you would be better off with a rebuild cossie and take it for a chip with either stu or karl to be sure it aint gonna melt then the only worry your gonna have is when it spins a shell

Ginge - when i get one it won't be some 500 bhp monster, just a stage 1 or maybe a gunship setup.

id rather a fiesta turbo on beiges than a stage1 cossie if you want a fast car, also i would say drive a few different spec cossies and decide what you want as a stage 1 cossie is fucking slow

id NEVER say dont buy a cossie though,,,, they are fun and if you can afford to waste 100 quid a month on a cars running costs average over a year then go for it imo

you,l be lucky to get a saff showing its propper mileage anyway unless its a low owner thing...like 2 or 3 owners with aPROPER fsh...not someting someone has knocked up on the pc one night

i await to be pounced on by peeps with 10+ owner 50k mile cars that they are convinced is genuine now

high miles is no problem if its a proper car/owner/garage thats been looking after it and its a relatively standard car

you can do more damage to an engine in 5 minutes of neglect than in 100k of driving so your 100k car might be in better nick than something with a 5k rebuild

imho it's not about mileage, i'd go for a good history (ie owners that spend money when money needs spending)

it is all down to the individual car, there is no one-rule-for-all here

i have seen sub 80k cars that have seen 2 rebuilds

i have seen one saff that did 180k before its rebuild

personally if i was happy with the car and convinced by the history i wouldn't be bothered by mileage

mines done 103k now, no rebuilds and the engine is just as healthy as it was when it was new

the transmission on the other hand
